Best game consoles for kids

Recommended Posts

Do not buy an XBOX or Playstation if you want a console for children. The Wii U is the way to go for kids/early teenagers. If you want a console for the kid for when he reaches his teen years I would go XBOX. Thew is a broader range of games for teenagers. Playstation is fine too. I wouldn't buy a Playstation or XBOX if you want a console for now. In 4-5 years they'll come out with a new system anyways.

My boys are turning 9 in a few weeks and we are thinking of getting a game console for their birthday.    Did not know if anyone had advice on the best consoles for kids to start and grow into as they get older.  Any advice would be appreciated.

If you're looking for something that's up to date and you won't have to buy a new system for years and years, PS4... or Xbox one but I like the Ps4 personally

Don't get them a Playstation or Xbox unless you want them to turn into little sociopaths who love mass murder.

Go Nintendo. Classic games that everyone can enjoy. Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Donkey Kong, Smash bros, Mario Kart, and more are there for them to play. Whenever I have kids that's how I'm going to start them out if they have an interest in video games. Those are all fun relaxing titles while most of the other systems stuff is rated Mature. Don't be one of those parents who lets their 9 year old play Call of Duty. I'd go with the Wii U since it has a selection of old school NES, N64, and SNES games for cheap as well as all of the new stuff.

    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
    • I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
    • Uh oh, Nicole Tepper hugged him. In all seriousness though every time I see more about him my hopes get higher. Smart, great attitude, prototype size and measurables, and athletic. He could be a great one.
