Luke cracking the top 10 this year?

So everyone knows the top 100 players countdown done by NFL.com every year is basically a popularity contest; Although having the approval of your peers means at least something if you are a player I would assume.  At any rate, the rankings are down to the top 20 and I'm curious if Luke will crack the top 10 this year.  He was 15 last year and yes, I know it doesn't really matter, but I'm dying for some football and I'll have to settle for meaningless countdowns and such for the next 4.5 weeks until TC starts.

Potential players still left to be ranked (in no particular order)

  • Aaron Rodgers
  • Richard Sherman
  • Jamaal Charles
  • Tom Brady
  • JJ Watt
  • Luke Kuechly
  • Le'Veon Bell
  • Antonio Brown
  • Andrew Luck
  • Calvin Johnson
  • Peyton Manning
  • Rob Gronkowski
  • Dez Bryant
  • Marshawn Lynch
  • Demariyus Thomas
  • Julio Jones
  • Jordy Nelson
  • Patrick Peterson
  • Darrelle Revis

I'm sure there might be a few names I'm not thinking of perhaps, but it should be enough to make an informed decision.  I'm saying Luke just misses the top 10.  Thoughts?

I bolded all the players that I could understand being top 10 in the league last year. Doesn't necessarily mean I think that they were better than Luke, just that and argument for them being top 10 could be made.

I think he is in because the has not dropped off at all so far with his career.  Has been the best mlb since is first snap at the position and has just gotten better.  Everyone knows it too.

Oh I agree 100% that he is the best MLB in the league.  Just wondering if being the best MLB in the league is good enough to get him in the top 10.  The players always seem to go with offense in these countdowns.

So two weeks ago they said there were 2 linebackers left,  last week they did one.  They only have one line backer left and we all know that's luke.  Tonight if he's not on the show we know for sure he's top 10. Too bad I'm sure no more panthers will be on the list except Luke,   so far it's only Olsen and Cam in the top 100.

Don't get me wrong I love Luke as much as the next man ...it just AMAZES me how Thomas Davis gets the habitual snub in everything involving top players.

He has to atleast be the in top 2 (if not 1) at 4-3 OLB. Man of the Year is fantastic and Family Feud is cool but I can promise you he pays attention to these lists, pro bowls, etc... he has said as much.

Didnt mean to derail this thread ... I have no doubt Luke is top 10. Calling it now "9". But uhhhh .... Maybe a top 50 underrated show should be on the upcoming schedule. In which case Davis should be Top 10.

Congrats for Luke ... smh for Davis.

    • Baker was traded before he played his 5th year.  RGIII was cut before playing his 5th year. So it is rare but it happens.
    • Time to hit 4000 yards and 30 TDs (including rushing). I don't care about INTs anymore. That's a big part of the problem. He plays uber conservative until the game is on the line. Playing not to lose, instead of playing to win. Time to let it friggin rip from the get. The team can win with a pick or 2 if he has 3-4 TDs. Stop playing scared.  But to be fair, his WRs have not been great. You all can bash about 1st round picks and O-line cap all you want.  Chuba as your #1 RB his entire career.  Adam Thielen as your best WR for 2 of 3 seasons is ridiculous. Then a rookie as your best in the 3rd season. Legette is not a 1st round talent. Probably closer to a 4th if you compare him to Brazzel this year. Coker has been a walking injury report. Nothing else to really speak of at WR or TE. Jimmy Horn has potential, but he is not an NFL starter yet. Oline has been better as run blockers than pass blockers. Ickey has always been so-so as a pass blocking LT. Center has been a revolving door for 3 years. Damien Lewis has been as marketed. Hunt is a great run blocker but an ok pass blocker - when healthy. Moton has been solid at RT. Biggest problem with the oline has been depth. When someone went down, their replacement became a glaring weakness. Overall a good but not great unit the last 2 years. 2023 was a ish show. Nothing else to say.  Not one game breaker, take it to the house offensive weapon since DJ Moore. Hopefully we get a little of that from Brazzell.  Either way, in his 4th season, it doesn't matter. You have to be able to overcome whatever comes your way. First 3 seasons with a young supporting cast is defendable. Can't use that anymore though. 3rd year in the offense. 3rd year with the same HC.
    • Highest amount of OL salary cap in the league too. The Chiefs are behind us at 2 but we are ahead of them by a cool $23 million. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/position/offensive-line/_/year/2026/table/active/sort/cap_total
