Per Stephen A Smith. to make sure the NFL couldn't see his texts.

Stephen A Smith hears Tom Brady destroyed his phone

LOL PFT with egg all over their face and running down their fugging chin.

I am not a big fan of Stephen A, but that article is filled with typical snark and patronizing tone that has become the common writing style of PFT.

What a bunch of a-holes.

When the story broke that the suspension was upheld, Darin Gantt and Michael David Smith posted stories simultaneously.  It was the top two stories on the site with the exact same headline.

(Gantt has since changed his headline so it looks like they were posting different aspects of the story)

I'm amused.

I'm thinking they have a random article generator.  Some program that just spits out groupthink key phrases that internet searches turns up, and florio just hires the "writers" to "publish" the content and they just grabbed the same product and put their names on it at the same time.  Would explain the garbage they write.

The texts still exists,  text take very little storage space.

Now actually getting from the service provider is not easy.

Of the major carriers, only Verizon stores the actual text message, and then only for 3-5 days.  Most of them do retain data regarding who you were texting a lot longer.

Yep. So he made himself look guilty as fug for no reason.

My quote was about how long the Service provider maintains text messages.  But the phone itself is a different animal altogether.  Its a computer, and unless he wipes it, its possible in theory to retrieve the text messages.

That being said, there was no way the NFL was going to be able to force him to give up the phone, so it does seem rather pointless to destroy it.  So in essence, you are correct.

But then maybe he was afraid someone might try to steal it.  For all we know, the phone might have evidence of an affair, and if the wife finds out, he gets divorced and loses a few million.  That might actually be worth the risk of a 4 game suspension.

I get you,  but still why smash it? "Drop" it ib the toilet just as you flush, or maybe a pot of boiling water while "checking the recipe".

Just smashing it is stupid.
