NFL August 2015 Power Rankings

NFL just released today their updated power rankings.  They are starting to give us a little love (#15), and have all other NFCS ranked 23rd or worse.  I love being the underdog, because they're going to be like "who da fugg was that?"  Especially the first time Lee Ward relocates the front of their face to the back of their head (praying he makes the 53).

I've been sitting on this one. It's a real gas.

behind the Raiders, Browns, Bucs, Bears, Jets, Texans etc etc LOLLL

26. Carolina Panthers

2014 DVOA rank: 25th

Key additions: Shaq Thompson (rookie, LB)

Key subtractions: Greg Hardy (DE)

One thing to know: With continuing cap issues, they weren't able to improve their dismal offensive line (and for some reason they didn't do so in the draft either).

the way our offensive line has performed thus far in training camp, it's a legitimate concern. If we continue to have multiple 3 and outs, the defense can only do so much, and a 6-10 season isn't far fetched.

Our LG, C, RG, RT are solid as a rock.  Our LT is 50/50, but with Williams rotating in with Oher, we are starting to have options and depth there.  Our O-Line is in a much better place than last year.

That's easily the worst power ranking I've every read in my short, meaningless life.

I mean the ranking is one thing, but even the summary for the Panthers is horrible. Why not just throw together 100 random words from the english language and it might make more sense.

1) why is Shaq Thompson a "key addition"? He was the first round pick, sure, but he isn't expected or needed to play at a high level right away.

2) He says the Panthers didn't improve the oline because of cap issues (Oher) nor the draft (Williams)

3) Hardy as a key subtraction, eh OK? I mean he only played a couple of games last year. Not like he wasn't already subtracted from the team. I would have chosen Deangelo.

That guy did a poor job and his family should be ashamed.

He's clearly been drinking his own pee again.

What is this based on?  I read he played so so early in camp but since I haven't read about him being 50/50.  Where are you getting the info from on this?

From the two eye balls in my head.  Watching him practice, he's getting beat 1/2 the time and stoning the defense the other 1/2.  Williams on the other hand is looking damn solid at LT, or where ever he lines up for that matter.

    • See that's the thing what I saw in game 2 was so embarrassing id rather they could just forfeit
    • Are you arguing that his height deficiencies and footwork within the pocket have not been a present issue clearly seen on his game tape particularly in the games he struggled in? Because that's simply denying what everyone in this fanbase who have watched the games have seen. It's interesting how hardline BY fans here quickly and effortlessly pivot from whailing about being victimized to becoming the aggressor and hurling out allegations of bias and hatred. And at the end of the day while Bryce Young clearly improved significantly from the first two games of the season the reality of the situation is he still finished 42nd in yards per pass attempt behind Mac Jones and tied with Caleb Williams and 38th in passing yards per game behind the likes of Gardner Minshew Aidan O'Connell Drake Maye and Will Levis. Furthermore it took Bryce Young 23 games to surpass Panthers legend Kyle Allen's 13 games worth of passing yardage in 2019. So if your argument is he became a head and shoulders better passer over the course of the second half of the season the reality is we're still waiting to see that growth this season. And there is nothing controversial or vitriolic about saying so from the mind of a rational observer.
    • Cam regularly threw for less than 200 yards and nobody questioned he was elite. He averaged 219 yds per game for his career.  You seem to be way too hung up on yards as a stat.  By that definition Jameis Winston should have been MVP by now.
