FWIW: Mort Says Keep An Ear Out For Reggie Wayne

On Sportscenter just now...  He already discussed KB's injury earlier and then came back for a second segment on other team's injuries.  In the first segment he rattled off all of the FAs out there (Randy Moss, Reggie Wayne, Santonio Holmes, Brandon Lloyd), but St the end of the second segment, about 10 minutes later, he said, "keep an ear out for Reggie Wayne and the Panthers."  The host excitedly asked if he was serious and he replied, "yes, I'm told he is on their short list."

And yet again, I revisit the offseason...   Remember a guy named Andre Johnson?

what's done is done and I'm not going to complain about this team's organizational philosophy until next offseason, but I will say this alone:

As was said during the offseason, Indy was absolutely in the right in how they set out to build their perimeter weapons. They saw the need and signed a quality free agent at the position as well as used a high draft pick on one, ensuring that no matter what happened-they would be better.

The finances that we piled onto soon to be cut players like Teddys and Boykins and other Huddle nonsense could've easily been devoted to netting us one quality player that would've diminished if not outright negated the loss we took today

im all for reggie Wayne at this point as much as I hate having to bear that kind of desperation

    • yeah, now it's going to get awkward.  The team circles pay attention to all this stuff.  All the wives and girlfriends see the posts.  They all talk like everyone.  Football is just a normal world outside of the fact they play a game for lots of money.  Gossip travels. They know the Theilen's want out at this point.  Carolina is now the disappointed failed trade location.    So now AT takes sort of an inhouse hit in Carolina IMO
    • Ummm... The dude looked like he was about 180 pounds soaking wet with us (I don't care what his listed weight was/is) - he would have been destroyed in the run game even more than our current and past crappy ILBs. The problem is we primarily play 3-4 or nickel/dime - there is little room on the field for him because he isnt an edge LB blitzer and he can't cover for crap. The only thing he can do kind of well is be an in-the-box safety that can try and beat blockers to the spot because of his athleticism. Washington was able to make him work last year because they used him solely as an in-the-box safety and almost exclusively ran a single high FS. The funny thing is they had good yards/game stats against the pass despite most of their secondary having embarrassingly low PFF grades. Washington was also terrible against the run, which might explain why they gave up so few yards passing.
    • Just get the deal done. We've teased it so much that the Thielen's expect it. Now we run the risk of our veteran WR locker room presence becoming disgruntled. Just take what we can get, make him happy, and get future assets while freeing up snaps for guys who will be here beyond this season.
