Todman to Steel City

I think discussing DeAngelo Williams with you is kind of a fruitless endeavor.

To be clear, I'm not someone who wishes we'd have kept him. But I don't see DeAngelo being supplanted by Jordan Todman either.

it really isn't.   It is pointless if you are a "OMG DWill retweeted me on Twitter what are you talking about he is slow and contact at the line kills his game that is crazy" fan...

I did at least provide my explanation for the statement and addressed why I thought that way...you basically countered with you are just a DWill hater.

You are a DWill hater, and well known as one.

I'm not particularly a DWill fan myself (have long said letting him go was the right choice) but I think your theory is wishful thinking.

Barring injury, I see Williams ending the season on the Steelers roster. Todman, not so much.

Todman.......  A player that the jags let go. Repeating that, the jagsjags him let go. A player that stayed on the free market late into season. A player that signed for the one year min plus 60,000 SB. Yes he showed some ability and has KO return skills(devalued now). Ball a former 2013 second rounder was wavied today.... Try to be real in the real value of todman.

Panthers have needed some #5/6 RBs certain years and todman should be available after week 3 if the panthers run into that problem again.

We have entirely too many RB. I'm expected us to part ways with Stew after next season, Tolbert will be gone next year

My opinion is if you not going to use Wegher, don't bring him on the roster just cause you know somebody else will get him. Give him a chance to get reps somewhere else

34 likely could be let go after week 2.  Pitt OL likely is gonna force RBs to make a play at the line of scrimmage and he really can't do that anymore

Todman easily could add more value than Williams.

...yea... they gonna be booin delow...spoiled fan base doesent have patience for that.

no.  I'm a hater of over paying RBs in today's NFL.  I'm a hater of old RBs.  I'm a hater of old expensive RBs that just aren't that good.  Never was about the man...but people made it about the man and that caused them to overlook a clearly declining player.

but you still didn't address any actual football talk and why Williams will succeed this year.  Todman is a better RB....his speed and ability to avoid contact at the line are why.  Create tons of space and 34 can make plays....but that is pretty much true of all RBs

    • The good news is that we are pretty uniquely well established to address all of our needs this season. We have $14m real cap space, and something like $40m in trade deadline cap space. Not sure exactly how that works out. But, we have the room to absorb any bad contracts. With recent rule changes regarding retention, that went into effect this season, we now have a huge advantage in the trade market.  On top of that, while we do have obvious needs, we also have a glut of talent in certain areas that we struggle to find ice time for. We are over-stocked on scrappy talented lil-guys, strong defensively sound 3rd liners and shutdown left shot dmen. Whether it's a package or separate deals, idk. But, one of each from Stank/Blake/Nads, Erob/Carrier/KK/Jank, and Walker/Nystrom; throw in some 1st round picks (and frankly any other prospects they want) and we should be able to come out with a 1b to pair with Bussi and either a 2c with size or a 2c and size.   TL/DR We got the money, you got the stuff?
    • I don’t  think 6’4 was ever considered small or undersized. Baby hands tho, yes that was his thing That’s an interesting idea, like an optical illusion? Sounds like you have personal experience with this!
    • in the 25' draft the Carolina Panthers had hired Brandt Tillis someone who actually understood how to build a successful team & build through the draft .  this team was yes mismanaged for years prior to Brandt Tillis joining the team in 25' & rarely done anything right in the draft outside occaionaly getting lucky on an UDFA such as Jalen Coker who's dad coincidentally happened to be a huge Carolina Panthers fan, hint hint  ...just saying
