Matchups from PFF - New Feature

Add me to the list that does not consider PFF "grades" as especially useful.  Especially two games into a season.  Anyone can watch the aints d and assign random yellow and orange colors and pretty much be just as accurate.

The fact they have Remmers and Cam as "below average" is all the proof you need.

Most of you aren't old enough to remember the old vibrating NFL football game but that is immediately what I thought of when I saw these PFF graphics.

which I think is bull.

I think both Tolbert and Ealy have played well this season.

It just goes to show that stats are just numbers. Game film is what tells you who a good player is.

You're right that no stat by itself is full proof but it's funny you should say stats are just numbers because PFF watches and grades every player individually. For instance, Cam won't be penalized for dropped passes, so it's as close to game film stats as possible right now.

Ealy didn't record a stat in week 1, didn't do much week 2 and added penalties. Penalties are the fastest way to a bad PFF grade. Looks like he's going against a pretty good LT so we need him to step up.

Look at Norwell with the highest grade on the offensive side.

Pretty awesome seeing six players on defense with a 80+ grade. We could be seeing the changing of the guard on the DL as Short becomes the best graded player there.

Anyone else dislike this new grading system they are using?

Really don't like it. It takes into account the player's previous 32 games with more recent games being weighted more highly. Even with the weighting, 32 games is way, way too long in the NFL. That's a lifetime in the NFL and and player's ability can drastically change from one season to the next.

Cam Jordan probably is going to shred Oher.  Oher sucks.

Hard to believe you've actually watched a game this season. The LT that sucked played here last season.

Too many batted down or tipped balls last week.

Cam needs to adjust his throws if he's gonna hang onto the ball until the last second.

Just like Watt and Clowney did.  I swear some of you people have no hope.

Clowney had the best game of his career against Oher.  If Watt had lined up against him, Watt probably would have had a much better game than he did too.

This has nothing to do with not having hope.  I think the rest of our offensive line is doing extremely well.  However, Oher simply isn't a good player.  Just because he might suck less than Bell doesn't mean he still doesn't suck or at the very least, is a liability at left tackle.  I don't know why some of you have a hard time accepting this.  The #'s back it up.  The on-field play backs it up.  He's one of the lowest rated left tackles on PFF.  I'm not just spouting nonsense.  He's without a doubt the worst player on the offensive line and it is very possible Cam Jordan, the Saints best player on D, will wreck him.

So because Bell sucked, Oher can't suck too?

Maybe "suck" is harsh (I don't think it is, but it's whatever).  He's not a good player though.  He's below average at best and his pass protection is far and away the worst on the team.

Can't and doesn't are two different things. I didn't make the inference. You did.

his pass protection is far and away the worst on the team.

It might appear that way, but that's because he's at LT. If it were really true he wouldn't be starting. Your best CB doesn't break up every long pass either. He's usually on the best receiver.

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
