Let's all think before posting PFF grades...

you mean us, or Jeremy?

everyone.  Heck, even the major networks have been using them of late.

I have used them to support arguments before.   They have become the go to site bc in theory they do what you would like to see tracked

PFF grades are not absolute, but I somewhat understand the grade. As good as Rodgers looked, he threw an interception that was dropped and fumbled (negated by a penalty). A lot of his yards come from yards after the catch, and they give the receivers a positive grade for their earned yards.

yeah but they basically admit to ignoring plays where QBs are smart and throws short to the open guy....and it leads to great things.  B/c it wasn't a tough enough throw for them to grade and they just basically grade what the WR does.

those aren't gimmie throws bc QBs overlook them all game and do dumb things instead

I completely understand not liking PFF grades, but why do you care if they get posted? If you don't like them, don't look at them. It's really that simple.

I didn't say not to post them....just that if you are going to post/use them then you need to see what they did last night with Rodgers.   B/c IMO it should at least make people think different

It's their system, and no system will be perfect. They decided that passes behind or on the line of scrimmage will be rewarded as neutral. If a quarterback checks down, and the RB takes it 70 yards and breaks 5 tackles, the QB didn't do anything but throw a check down.

Those are gimmie throws, and they shouldn't be treated otherwise because QB's don't make them. They don't give Alex Smith a high grade because he checks down and throws screens. He doesn't throw a lot of interceptions, but he doesn't make wow plays either.

making the correct read isn't a gimmie...it is why so many QBs suck b/c they miss the easy ones too constantly

just my opinion

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
