Tavarres King and Marvin McNutt

Remember these guys?

In the midst of all the receiver discussion, I thought I'd look up where these guys are now.

McNutt isn't actually anywhere. The Redskins gave him a look in the 2014 offseason but chose not to keep him. He may have had a tryout or two, but hasn't been seen on an NFL roster since.

Tavarres King is doing a little better. He recently got a tryout with the Giants and won a spot on their practice squad. Notable in that he was signed even over former Dolphin/Patriot/Bronco Wes Welker and former Giant/Colt Hakeem Nicks.

So McNutt is free. King is on the Giants practice squad.

Anybody wanna give 'em another shot?

To be fair, Welker seems like he's one big hit away from some immediate and permanent damage.

Probably worth noting that Welker and Nicks aren't practice squad eligible, but good for King.

I need to look up those exception rules. The topic comes up on here a lot.

Regardless, they felt King was worth hanging on to. The others, not so much.

    • If you have the chance to get a corner the caliber of Asante Samual you do it, even if you think highly of your CB room.  Chau Smith Wade shouldn't be the reason you don't sign him
    • Nobody wants to wait a year on drafting a QB, but that's what you have to do sometimes.  If you don't like your hand, sometimes you have to fold and wait for the next one.  The error is thinking that every hand must be played. We forced our own hand by deciding it was QB or bust in 2023.  Don't make the same mistake again being eager to replace Bryce.
    • Per NFL NGS(can only gather data on the QB with the most snaps, so there will be a very small variance) for 20+ yard targets per game: Baker(2023): 4 Dalton(2024-2025): 2.3 Young(2024-2025): 3 So there is a modest improvement from Young to Baker. Not sure one more target a game is what everyone is looking for. I didn't compare over success rate(I can do that, if desired). I would imagine that could change the difference quite a bit but, again, that's more on the QB and not so much the offense. I still believe this IS the offense.
