Panthers receiver Devin Funchess

This may be a little controversial but I am going to say it.  I was not very impressed with Devin Funchess in that interview.  Unlike other players you have had, that seem to have a drive for greatness, he did not.  It is really hard to describe why I felt so offput by him.  It was a combination of his responses and attitude.

I hope he proves me wrong, but I just did not hear the things I wanted to hear.

Don't count him out just yet... He is one of the youngest guests on the show. If you'll notice, between our two 21-year-old picks, they're very cautious over what they say and how they respond. The other guys are definitely more comfortable in their own skin. Furthermore, to Funch's credit, he said he grew up a basketball kid, he's just now fully learning the game- and I think with that, comes learning the respect and passion for it. Nobody better to learn from than a coaching staff that likes to teach. Don't lose hope yet-- not like we have much selection at his position right now :)

just my 2 cents

A lot of NFL players first love is bball.

Being a successful WR requires confidence. You don't gain that confidence until you trust your technique and ability.

You don't trust your technique without great coaching. Ricky will take care of that with time.

Once his technique is straightened out and makes a few catches he will gain confidence.

When a WR gains confidence their production raises drastically.

When his production and confidence matches the expectations people have of him then he will feel more comfortable in his skin.

When he's more comfortable in his skin, his personality will shine through.

We believe in you Dev!

The Blair witch project was utter crap to me. I didn't see it in theaters but I saw it when I was about 17 at a friend's house. Boring. As. Hell. Nothing happens for 90 minutes and I'm supposed to poo my pants?

Psh.

Jaws is just a great movie that instills a sense of dread and anticipation because you don't see the damn shark until towards the end of the movie. You see things from the shark's perspective, hear that iconic music, and then see a fin. It's what you don't see that makes it scary. Your mind fills in the blanks and makes things scary for you.

The original Saw was a great mind fug of a horror movie, and that twist ending. The sequels are all just gore porn, but they don't take away from how awesome the first one was.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Poltergeist yet. That's a classic and killed off half the people that worked on the movie.

The Descent is solid and it was filmed in NC. People should check that one out.

The Babadook is another good one. More recent, not sure who all has seen it yet.

Jaws was my daughters favorite movie for a few years when she was around 10 or so. I loved the movie and always have and felt she could take it. So one day she says to me, "Jaws isn't really that scary. How come they call it a horror movie?" I thought about it and I said ok. The next time you are in the water down at the beach, think about the movie and then tell me if you think it's a horror movie or not. Sure enough...she got my point. That movie changes how you think. Quite possibly the greatest movie of all time and not just horror movie. Soundtrack, directing, acting...the total package.

The top hat he is is top notch, that movie is pretty solid for a horror movie (I'm not a big fan of the genre).

I've said before I wanna go to a beach populated mainly by middle-aged to older folks and take with me a boom box that has a tape of the theme from Jaws.

Figure when I first start playing it, the people in the water might chuckle, but I wanna see how long it takes for them to get nervous and start looking around.

"Oh, ha ha. Very funny."

"Wait..."

    • Won't say bust before he plays another game, but it was clear to me before the draft that wasn’t a number 1, or even close.  I guess if they can get dominant players around him and design for his deficiencies he could be serviceable. But why do you want to do all that when you can get a prototypical performance out of a guy that is whatever size and shape?  Do I cringe when I see him in the huddle? Yep, I admit it. Because I know what’s coming. But give me a real NFL arm and I’d feel a ton better about dealing with 5’10” 185. It’s always been his throwing/footwork/poor velocity for me.
