more of what the Hawks fans are saying

An interesting analysis on the Field Gulls blog about the Seahawks being a team that has lost its identity / become complacent:

http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2015/10/12/9508225/seahawks-bengals-week-5-pete-carroll-russell-wilson-jimmy-graham-struggling?_ga=1.142442427.881341911.1419200663

Here's a good excerpt:

Intimidation factor is gone

There have been games in recent seasons where the Seahawks, especially their defense, shook offenses to their core. The Seahawks personnel across the entire defense was so fast and brutal and bad that offenses ducked and dodged. The Seattle offense had its physical edge, too, and Russell Wilson's extraordinary running talent made the Seahawks even more fearsome. That intimidation factor is gone. Opponents are not scared of the Seahawks anymore. The bullies are getting pushback. Teams are no longer falling in order against them. The Seahawks' novelty has worn off. Familiarity has bred comfort in opponents. Seattle must understand this. They are not going to win games on that reputation any longer. They need to play games now for four quarters at their highest level without trepidation. That is an answer.

I think the Seahawks thought they were literally tougher than the Bengals and being up 24-7 confirmed it -- in their own minds. They forgot the Bengals twice a year play AFC North grind-it-out teams Pittsburgh and Baltimore, and some of these Bengals players grew up being pounded by menaces like Steelers safety Troy Polamalu and Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis.

"That's a good team, even better than people think," Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett said of the 5-0 Bengals.

Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner added: "They were resilient under duress."

The Seahawks can continue to think they are the toughest team on the field. They just should not be surprised any longer by how their opponents respond.

Third-down offense

Seattle managed only three first downs in its final six drives. Too frequently against the Bengals, the offense on third-and-short was Wilson stepping back, taking a quick look and then seeking to run for first downs up the middle. The Bengals figured this out, aligned for it and were ready for it throughout the fourth quarter and beyond. But Wilson and the Seahawks kept trying it.

If Wilson is going to be a runner in those situations late in the game, it is better to simply call quarterback runs, block for it and let it him go. Another answer is the return of injured running back Marshawn Lynch.

Seattle ran for 200 yards and rookie Thomas Rawls gained 169 of those yards. He scored on a 69-yard run in the third quarter. But Seattle did not routinely go to him in third-and-short situations, and it cost them. This area is a Lynch specialty.

Cam needs to play within himself and take his check downs. Don't give them cheap points it the possibility of cheap points   Don't try to do it all himself.  Seattle loves, hitting him and mimicking him

get roman Harper help

get Luke back

no special teams screwup. Our special teams aren't lighting up the league in coverage and  we know the rest

i want the Panthers to win this game badly but desperate teams, which the Seahawks are, and teams that are slow coming off bye which the Panthers are, well......

Things need to be perfect for the Panthers to win and the way things are games  in the Rivera era, seldom is any win pretty  or a blowout which means one stupid foul, bad call, mistake and they can't recover

still I hope for a win

I agree. It's completely cringeworthy for some reason. Like I like it when the homie Beast Mode posts here, but when I see people on the Huddle making MULTIPLE threads over there...yeah, it's cringeworthy.

especially when they get things wrong over on other boards. It makes us all look bad. Plus there's no reason to suck up to their fanbase.

Seattle sucks this year. I could see this one ending 23 to 10. You guys will stop the run making Russ one dimensional early in the 3rd then your DL will tee off on their terrible OL the rest of the way.

You guys get 2 TDs, 3 field goals.

Seattle will get a FG before the half & a garbage time TD.

we think exactlexactlyexactly alike. I can't pie this enough. I feel so sorry for you having to live in Washington and deal with that. I currently live in tampa, they love their hockey team more than the bucs.

This is my early season superbowl. I'm ready to hear them say..well sea ain't good this year after we beat them. Fug em 5 and 0 is 5 and 0. Go panthers!

If we win this game in fashion, the league will take notice.

I don't know. After the Bengals' win, Dungy had the gall to say that their WIN was more about the Seahawks than about how good the Bengals are. Might be more of the same after we beat them. :)

To win this game we need to play our game, not react to theirs. That is what we have been good at & so far we've been able to do that. Keep the stupid penalties to a minimum. And, for goodness sake, do not kick or punt to Lockette.

EPIC.... Now tell us how you REALLY Feel.  lol

This is always my first question any bandwagon fan.  Name the 3 previous QBs or even just the Previous one to whoever is starting now.

Saints fans the same way but a little better.

NE Fans I bet half cannot tell you who the starting QB was that Brady took over from.  Or can tell you who Steve Grogan is.

Great Job....Loved the Rant.
