About those blocked field goals in Seattle last year...

We all remember when Kam Chancellor jumped over the offensive line twice to block Panther field goals.

Well, turns out there was a reason it was so easy, per David Newton:

Strange how this went unnoticed for so long.

I see what Rivera is talking about.....

I also don't think it was needed by Seattle.  Kam had whatever tell we have timed perfect.  So even if they don't hold our players this time we still need to do something about messing up the snap timing.  B/c Kam clears it for the block IMO even if they don't commit the penalty.

So Ron getting the officials just to look for that isn't enough IMO.  He has to alter the snap timing.

Hard to say. Would have only needed to glance his foot for him to get off balance.

maybe.

But I still think it was inexcusable coaching to ignore our snap timing on the second kick b/c clearly Kam and the entire Seattle staff felt extremely comfortable that Kam could time it PERFECT (which he did.....twice).

btw, for those wanting to see the ESPN article, here's the link. smh

It should also be noted that Seattle hasn't tried that since then. If it worked so well, even Bellicheck would be doing it.

thanks I'll update OP with that. It wasn't posted until just now

Seattle hasn't played us since.  That wasn't something random they were going to pull in the playoffs....it was Panther specific.  They saw something they that they could exploit in our garbage special teams.

Maybe be we have corrected it.  Maybe we haven't.  Stuff like that is team specific film study oriented....and Seattle had someone they thought could pull it off

Maybe there was a tell, maybe there wasn't. Maybe they just thought bullying their way to the kicker was the way to go. It doesn't matter because after Rivera notified the NFL about it & the NFL responded with "They said, 'Yeah, that can be called or should be called or will be called.' " no one else has tried it anywhere, not even them, because it is illegal as hell. It was no reflection on our special teams.
