Who was better.. Kuechly or Beason in his prime and pre injury?

As I've said a few times before, I didn't actively start following the Panthers until 2010/2011 (no not because of jumping on the Cam bandwagon.) although I do admit that us having the 1st overall pick really made my interest get a lot of steam and since then I have been a avid, die hard fan..

So with that said, besides the Arizona game in 2011 when Beason blew out his Achilles, I never really got to see him in his prime.. So if someone came up to you and gave you a choice between Kuechly or Beason and guaranteed that both would remain healthy and play at high levels, who do you got?

To answer your question, Beason was a great player. He had a ton of heart and had a way to lead men. He was one of the best speakers and was amazing at rallying the troops. He was a little undersized but was pretty darn fast. BUT he was no Luke. Luke will go down as one of the greats if he plays for many years. Not many players will have the opportunity to go down as one of the greats at his position.

Beason was good but probably a bit overrated.  Luke is great and is probably, if anything, a bit underrated.  Luke is on the way to being a first ballot Hall of Famer while Beason, even if he never got hurt, would have probably maxed out at 3-4 pro bowls.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
