Thomas Davis getting praise by other teams coaches.

In an article by the Charlotte Observer. Coach McDermott had this to say in the article, praise for TD by other coaches.

“I had a coach call me this morning and say I’m showing my guys that play,” said McDermott on Monday afternoon, though he would not reveal who the coach was or which pro team he’s affiliated with. “That is awesome fundamentals. It’s a lost art. To make that tackle in space, with nobody else around, and a back of Sproles’ quality, I think is phenomenal fundamentals and it’s a leader leading by example.”

I really don't know how you can narrow it down to just one. Davis was eviscerating anyone and everyone within his line of sight. That Man is fanning the flames of an ember of success I'm not sure that I have seen before in this defense. The outcome being a nucleus of atoms that might possibly result in a new element listed on the periodic table.

That play, when considered alongside Ealy's open-field takedown of Wilson last week, really shows the discipline and sound fundamentals of the defense as a whole.  Perfect games are hard to have (as shown by the long TD run), but this defense is impressive.

Out of all of the A+ players we have on this team, TD is the closest to his twilight.  TD knows his time is short, I hope so bad they can get a ring for everyone on this team but TD deserves one more than anybody.

TD has always played intensely, but it seems like he has ratcheted up his intensity even more this year as he knows that these next couple years are probably his last couple to win the SB. he seems to set the tone on defense with his intensity, almost trying to will this team to win.

    • I mean, if Moore really wants out, then it would behoove the Bears to make it happen sooner than later. X is a lot younger and cheaper, and may be a better fit for Johnson's musings than a disgruntled, unnecessary, overpaid vet. If they can dump his salary and maybe get a fourth or so in return, it may be worth it to them. As for development, I'm not concerned. You're talking about a seeming bust, a day three guy and a UDFA. They are developing relative to their ceilings. I doubt any of them will ever command the coverage, money, or the respect that Moore has acquired. He's a tier above them. Yes, even X.
    • IMO, if Ceedee plays against us, the game probably goes the other way. Same with Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins. Our team just isn't designed to beat teams with two high level receivers like that. But when you look at the league, how many teams really have two guys of that caliber?  There's nothing wrong with defensive adjustments, but sometimes I think a lot of fans want Evero to call a different play like a game on madden, and defensive football just isn't like that. That said, I thought we did a much better job this season against the Cowboys of flipping Jaycee and at least making them work for it, opposed to last season when they literally just lined CeeDee up on the other side of the field every single snap.  For us to just straight up switch to consistent man coverage, or a different zone, or whatever, we likely would consistently need different personnel on the field. Doing it a few times a game is a gamble and can work, but if we consistently run man coverage against the Cowboys, eventually a RB is going to beat a linebacker, or something of that nature with our personnel. Part of the reason Evero likes this scheme is that, while we have our defaults and presets, what we do is very multiple, and you can do a lot of different things pre and post snap. We are a challenging defense to read. But as you said, if guys are getting beat, it doesn't really matter what you call.
