The Dark Days of Panther QBs

Someone in the Bills FO (I think) referred to it as QB purgatory which is a perfect description in my opinion. Especially if your team is just good enough to keep you out of the top 10 in the draft. We've kind of been in left tackle purgatory for a couple of years now, but hey, gettlemagic.

Think about this, Bernie Kozar was the last decent QB Cleveland had, Bernie Kozar! Drew Carey used to have a great joke. He'd knock over his mic stand... Bernie Kozar in the pocket.

I'm not sure if it was luck as much as, well...we stunk like 3 day old poo marinated in spoiled milk during Foxy's last year. You can't get that top pick without being really, really bad.

With the crap swirling around Cam at the time, Hurney could have traded down for more picks.

For all the poo people on here talk about Hurney, it's a good thing he didn't listen to many of them. If it were up to a significant number of Panthers fans 5 years ago, we would have never drafted Newton. You have to give Hurney credit for Cam, and Luke, both picks were met with a good bit of ridicule here at the time.

Agreed. Never whiffed on a first round pick (unless you count Everette Brown as a first rounder)

Lol david carr and his gloves. Didnt wana ruin his manacure

If I recall correctly, when David Carr was on the Panthers his younger brother posted on the Huddle.......I know David has two brothers but I believe it was Derek that was posting because he was a teenager at the time.  Derek has turned into a good NFL QB.

David Carr

Matt Moore

Jimmy Clausen

We got so lucky to get Cam Newton so quickly. Think about it, Cleveland and Chicago come to mind. And look at the QBs since Cam came into the league, we would still be searching. Just something to think about.

Brain  St Pierre

Vinny Testeverde

ughhh

Clausen was actually a decent pro prospect. The 2010 season ruined him before he ever had a chance.

Carr had a ton of potential but Houston destroyed him.

Funny. I thought it was lack of talent that ruined him.

But yes, analysts were fooled into thinking he was a decent prospect because of where he went to school.
