He could have thrown each of this last 15 passes into the ground and his performance still would have been one of the day’s most entertaining. That’s because when Newton gets on a roll like he was on those first two drives, it looks like he’s playing against children.

I really liked this little blurb of an article.  Its not snarky or too analytical.  Just one man and his appreciation of our QB.

Just wanted to show everyone these tweets. They are OVERWHELMINGLY positive about Cam and his dancing. Yes, there are some salty ones thrown in, but mostly everyone wants Cam Newton as their QB right now and loves his dancing.

At least in the Twitter demographic, which is the current and future fans of sports in general as the older "act like you've been there before" people start to die off.

Last week they butchered his performance against the Packers because he went 15-30, 50%... Don't pay attention that he played an amazing game, throwing for 3 TD's and helping beat one of the top tier teams... Now he goes 21-26 of his passes, that's 80%. Now they nitpick his celebrating...for fugs sake man. Cam will always get criticized for something. It's pathetic.

Cam's million dollar smile is always going to make people mad.  He's on the rise in every way, and we have to go back to the ole: "haters gonna hate."

I love Deadspin, they are hilarious in a lot of their articles.  It's a much funnier way to keep up with sports!

NFL games need to go back to being fun, and Cam is the best person to bring the Fun back to the NFL! =)  I love Cam!

Thats a great thought, for so long now NFL has stood for the No Fun League.

Now Cam is just having a freaking blast out there.  It will be contagious.  Some of the sour puss QB's will scoff at the notion of having fun on the job but I think its healthier for the players to enjoy what they do.

Also, almost every reaction on reddit is positive. They love Cam's swag and love for the game.

Most of the media I've seen today has been on Cam's side as well. There have been a few who said his dance probably lasted a little too long, but most have echoed what he said. Don't like it? Don't let him score.

The dab dance is not that new. It's been happening in sports since the summer at least. Catching on in the NBA per this 10/8 article. You'll probably see it in soccer soon if not already. Cam is just ahead of the curve in the NFL.

The dance is sweeping through the NBA, starting with LeBron James, who has been seen Dabbin' several times in the past few weeks, first at his Nike LeBron 13 release in Akron (above) and again at the Cavs' recent intrasquad scrimmage.

good article here too;  by David Steele

http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl-news/4661270-cam-newton-touchdown-dance-video-reaction-panthers-titans

Less than 24 hours have passed since the great quarterback on the undefeated team dared to publicly express joy in his success, and many of the sphincters that involuntarily tightened at the sight of it have not yet loosened.

The good news? The contractions are not an epidemic. Football Nation is healthier on this subject than it has ever been … although we may be at least another generation away from the disease being eradicated for good.

Miraculously, society has evolved enough that the NFL itself — the notorious No Fun League — isn’t joining in the tantrum over Cam Newton dabbing on Sunday afternoon in Nashville. Video of the dance is on the league’s website, has aired continuously on the league’s network, and was tweeted out by the Panthers themselves.

They may not know the definition of a catch, but they have figured out the definition of "fun."

Even more miraculously, the overwhelming majority of fans dragged into this non-troversy are either celebrating the celebration, laughing at the hysterical reaction to it, or shrugging it off and moving on to actual football matters.

The pockets of resistance are still there, though, among media members and fans. And the time has come for them to explain themselves, as poorly as they tend to do on this topic.

The obvious reason can’t be ignored, of course. All the usual euphemisms, coded language and dog whistles have been employed already, involving the “right” way to act, about being "unprofessional,” about "showing off,” and eventually leading to some reference to laptops and payoffs (from Newton’s college days) and inferences about "thugs." This, remember, came just one week after the Packers fan whose banner Newton tore down before the game in Charlotte referred to him as “ghetto" in a Facebook post.

The reaction became even more fascinating later Sunday night, when the touchdown dance by the Cardinals’ Drew Stanton — on the sidelines while a teammate scored against the Seahawks — was treated widely like an spontaneous outburst of pure elation and love for the game. Without the euphemisms about his character or debates about whether it "belonged" in the game.

In reality, though, it all was the squeaky-wheel philosophy coming to light. The anti-Cam crowd just happens to be the loudest and shrillest. Their reactions continue to stick because over the years, they've proven to be spectacularly, publicly wrong.

t began when people turned scouting reports on Newton before the 2011 draft into personal screeds that defied logic and football sense (and which have annually been rubbed in the authors’ faces since).

The perception of a coast-to-coast backlash against Newton’s end-zone dance is following the same blueprint.

Those who have lashed out against it do nothing but show the worst side of society. Technology allows them to connect with equally-miserable, often-bigoted souls.

The rest of the world — at least the football world — is just dabbing along ....

    • Watching those throws Drake Maye was making on a dead run threading lasers into tight coverage on the sidelines over and over in that game against the Bills... these people need to go watch that and be honest with themselves.
    • why rig the scenario with the "as a passer" tag.   I mean, I assume you do that because Bryce needs help in the argument.  If we are just talking players and no contacts?   I mean, give me Young over Russell Wilson.   That's it.   I'd put him on par w/ Penix, Fields, McCarthy and Rattler,  so that's a wash.  Give me everyone else over Bryce.  And I'm not handicapping the other players as passing only because when you start doing that it's really meaningless.
    • McCarthy to date, for sure. That's a very early sample size, however. Russell Wilson is a backup. Not sure Wilson wouldn't be better suited to our offense specifically, but at the bare minimum it's basically a wash. Hurts I would generally disagree with. I do think Hurts is likely to be less than stellar in our offense. Justin Fields - Agree. Fields is a significant threat on the ground but he sees the field as badly or worse than Bryce. And that's with significantly more reps. Spencer Rattler - I honestly thought this would be an easier call that it is. TBH, right now Rattler looks a lot better. Really almost across the board. Kyler - Murray is better. Basically across the board. Not significantly better, mind you. Trevor Lawrence is more debatable than it seems. Low completion percentages, tons of TO's.....he really has been quite bad this year in Jax. He is considerably more talented than Bryce but the results have been marginally better. Tua - Tua is a little more dynamic of a player but he is a TO machine. Tend to agree. Caleb Williams. Not sure on this. Williams is still struggling to be consistent but his upper end is WAY higher than Bryce. He shows it fairlu frequently, as well. Probably would rather be working through Caleb's issues than Bryce. Penix - 100%. This guy stinks. Cam Ward. This is a little tough. Again, far higher ceiling on Ward and he shows flashes but it's been a mess there in Tenn. Probably lean towards Bryce here.
