2015 Arizona Cardinals

It will be interesting for sure.  The Cards use a dime package on more than 50% of their defensive snaps.   They also run a 3-4 when they don't have 6 DB's in.

They use 3 big uglies up front and then they've got corners safeties and undersized linebackers running around on the defense.  I think the Panthers will punish them between the tackles until they adjust and then we will unleash Cam's arm.  They love to blitz and if Shula calls a smart game (and Cam audibles out of long developing plays) I think we make it too expensive for them to stay with what they like to do.

I don't see how the Cardinals can stay with us for 4 quarters.

I also think our defense will confuse Palmer.  We have the personnel to play zone and man and Palmer will throw a couple of picks trying to figure it out.  I think our ends will get some sacks too.  Palmer likes to drop deep and holds the ball.

In 2008 Delhomme's arm was pretty much borked and John Fox thought it would be a good idea not to assign his best corner to Fitzgerald, and instead let him run circles around our zone defense. Also, the defensive line was made up of guys who were literally useless as pass rushers like Maake Kemoeatu and Tyler Brayton.

People put all of the blame on Jake, but that game was the coaches fault too.

We ran the ball down their throats on that first drive. Just like we had done to so many other opponents that year. But we thought we would get cute and start passing. Jake throws an INT. Let's go out and pass again. Jake throws an INT. It's still in the first half and we're not down by much. Maybe we should use the leagues best rushing attack to our advantage. Nope. Jake throws an INT. Hmm... Now we're down by quite a bit. Now we almost need to pass. Jake throws an INT. Welp. fug it. Pass it again.

We should've stayed the course and ran that ball down their throats over and over similar to what we did against the Bucs. We beat them so bad that I think they lost every game they played the rest of the season.

Look eerily familiar to the Cardinal team led by Kurt Warner that went to the Super Bowl after trouncing Carolina by 20.

Not saying they could get past a Panther defense better than Minnesota, but their WRs, except for Larry Fitz, are fast and it seemed like they just kept bringing out one TE after another to catch passes against whichever LB the Vikes put in coverage. Carson Palmer looks pretty damn good breaking Warner's Cardinal all-time single-season passing TD record (31).

I'd prefer not getting into a shootout with these guys, but I do think it'll be Arizona, Green Bay or Seattle in Charlotte in a few weeks...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

I thought they looked VERY ordinary against a VERY ordinary Minnesota team last night at home.  WRs made some awesome YAC.  Palmer missed a bunch of wide open throws.

Personally, I failed to see all the awesomeness that you perceived.

They look like the 2008 Cardinals but we're head and shoulders above the 2008 Panthers. I ain't skerred.

2008 had a slightly overall better QB IMO and OL.

that OL can be beat.   Then the deep ball goes away especially if you don't have to send the house to pressure.

you mean 08 Cardinals? Yea, slightly better QB.  Dunno about OL, I remember the Cardinals OL has been trash for many years now.  08 also had better WR corps overall (younger Fitz + Boldin > old Fitz + Floyd + Brown).  Better RBs now though.  Better secondary on 15 team for sure.

I definitely think the 2008 OL was better by a fair margin.

I agree on secondary, would probably flip the D and say current front 7 is weaker with the back end being stronger

    • you could even divide it up by division and conference with a similar seeding to the actual playoffs, culminating in it’s own Super Bowl.
    • Regression to the mean causes Tepper to give up on Bryce.  Six wins and we get the number seven draft pick and take Brendan Sorsby Texas Tech QB.
    • The pro bowl should be brought back, it should be in Honolulu with proper marketing and eyes on it, it should be the nfl subsidizing a week long vacation for guys with their families-with that the one big change to make is to get rid of the fan voting. Have each send a collection of five or six guys they deemed their best and if the rosters get a little wonky personnel-wise, that’s okay. That’s part of the fun. short of that, the only other thing I could recommend is having a similar set-up-no fan voting, teams selecting their best players, and sending them to compete against the chosen players from 31 other teams in real Olympic level sporting completions to see who comes out on top.   seeing the panthers delegates beat the disgusting saints delegates up for the Gold in the rowing competition or the 4x100 relay would actually feed into the competitive nature of fans and give them something to root for. you could even have under armour sell the logo cladded up team gear that the pros wear in these games for money, this stuff basically writes itself if the nfl wasn’t trying to use this event help sell the idea that no defense and lots of passing is a GOOD THING and you LOVE THIS and THE GAMES SHOULD BE MORE LIKE THIS.
