Mark Wahlberg was convicted of a hate crime?

Yup.

Very very fugged up stuff too btw. I did not know about this until recently myself. He still wants a pardon for it too, even though as far as I've read, he's never apologized to the victims, or made any attempt to try to better their lives with even a bit of the wealth he has amassed over the years.

Doesn't really matter.  Once you pay the punishment and your trouble free for a long time (about 10 years) you should get a pardon as long as it wasn't aggrivated assault.  Donating your wealth to the family would be a double standard towards Wahlberg as there are many people in the same position who aren't wealthy and don't have to donate their wealth in order to receive a pardon.
