So it seems CAP will be the man until Stewart gets back

We need DE, CB indraft but that rb situation has to be upgraded along with o line . Too bad we passed not Rawls get for this guy. Not trying to pile on but we need better than this

Rawls is a turd that got kicked off his Central Michigan team.  Everyone passed on him.  CAP was first team All-SEC, ranked above Rawls by ALL "experts" and we got him in the fifth round.  He may not be Adrian Peterson (who is?) but we also didn't use a top 10 pick on him.  He will be a nice piece of our puzzle either in a featured or situational role until he's 29 at the end of his rookie deal imo.  Relax.

And you're missing the point, even great running back's have 1 or 2 yard carries.  And he wasn't getting stuffed he still averaged over 3 yards a carry if you take away his best run.

I agree stew don't get 4-5 every carry he has plenty of 1-3 yard gains

At his time Id rather see CAP getting carries for 3-4 yards than Tolbert running into the back of Turner for 1 yard.

We need to draft a RB this spring.

Yeah, if a miracle happens and Derrick Henry or Ezekiel Elliot are still sitting there at pick 31.

I doubt they will be.  And if they're not, then you're just wasting a pick on someone who is no better than what you've already got.

He's not a blazer, but he's way faster than JStew. JStew is 10 times the running back though, and for exactly the reasons you mentioned.

Stew ran a 4.46 at the combine compared to CAP's 4.53, so they're probably about even in straight-line speed.

Never going to happen. He was the same in college. He is a slower less athletic version of Shady McCoy. Quick and looking for cuts and jumps. Goes down easily when hit square. No tough running.

Stewart, Tolbert, and Wegher are the backs who can move a pile. Whitaker and CAP are the scat back types who lack power.

Watched CAP for 2 years at Auburn.

If what you saw was a "scat back", you are delusional.

CAP really didn't have much room to run.  He tried bouncing it outside a few times because there wasn't any room on the inside.  Part of the problem was that the Giants were blitzing so much that they were filling most of the gaps.  Not to mention that our Oline also hasn't been able to consistently open up holes all season long.

What I really liked though, is that even with so little running room, he was still able to get a few yards out of nothing.  But when the line did open a nice hole, he exploded through it for a big gain.  I also like how smoothly he was catching the ball.  I think Auburn dropped the ball with him.  He clearly is a natural pass catcher who shows soft hands and the ability to quickly tuck the ball and turn upfield.

While this is only a small sample, and there was only so much he has able to show us, I do find his performance encouraging.  Hopefully, if Stew is out again, he'll have more room and be able to show us a little more next Sunday against the Falcons.

He didn't make any major mistakes.

Not going to anoint him anything at this point but a serviceable backup, relief runner.

Fumbled read option? That was pretty major, but it should have never been called to begin with

    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
