BBR reports that we surrendered 161 yards rushing yesterday

Where we had only surrendered 169 yards rushing the previous 4 games.

Rashad Jennings rushed for over 100 yards himself.

Horrible performance.  We won't be beating Arizona if we can't stop David Johnson (who is averaging almost 5 yards a pop) from gashing us up the middle.

I can't help but notice that the defense gets too comfortable after getting big leads. Rivera needs to address this.

He has been. He's quite pissed about it based upon the locker room space and today's presser.

Yesterday was good for this team. They won but still got a scare that the coaches can use to get after them with.

He addressed it pretty straight forward in their post game locker room... made it clear he wasn't happy with their lack of focus and losing composure.

One huge thing to note is that we went up 35-7 and they didn't have much rushing yards before that. Typically when you're down that much you're going to pass so our defense was playing the pass and they stuck to their gameplan and stayed calm and ran the ball. Coughlin is a good coach (should've benched Beckham but still) and did well in that situation. Also all year they've basically had a 3 way rushing attack with each guy (Vereen, Jennings, Darkwa) getting the same amount of carries. This game they changed it up and went to what they should've been doing all along. Jennings as an early down workhorse back and Vereen as a pure pass catcher out of the backfield (which he is elite at and was when he was with the Pats). Disappointing to allow that much for sure but there were other things that factored in.

We already said this after the Colts and Packers games. Now 3 games with a blown lead. Playoff teams play to the end, and the Giants were fighting for their playoff life. If we have to score 50 we score 50, but both the offence and defense need to stay focused if they want to win SB50.
