Shula won't interview for HC gigs while CAR in Playoffs

Per Ian Rapoport, Shula will not interview for any HC jobs while the Panthers are still alive in the playoffs. Wants to keep his focus on the Lombardi.

yea, just saw that.  pretty common sense, I don't think playoff coordinators often interview for HC jobs before their team's season is over.  that'd be quite assholish.

On the contrary, many do. Hell, McDermott interviewed for the Skins job a couple years ago during the team's bye week.

Phenomenal. If you didn't love Shula for the job he has done with Cam then you better love him for this. It is very rare that an assistant refuses to interview for HC positions during the playoffs.

If they have a 1st round bye they do.

 

Pretty common, as many of the coaches on those top 4 teams get plucked.

Why?

You only get a few shots at being a HC in this league, and not to mention the pay raise.  Sean is probably making 600k per year, and has 3 years left on his deal.  ( I think)

If he gets a HC job, he will likely sign for 4 years at 4M per....16 million guaranteed vs. 1.8M here......you do the math.

Shula has a damn good thing going with cam.  They work well together. I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to stay here

McDermott interviewed the week before our playoff game vs the 49ers a couple years back.....
