Just be ready for the excuses when we beat them.

It was cold. It was too dark. Palmers finger. The field was real grass. Arians lost his lucky Kangol. SCP crop dusted us.

Who knows what they'll blame it on.

Depending on what I eat at the tailgate, a crop dusting from me could be a legit excuse used by the Cards if they lose.

If we can pressure Carson like we pressured Wilson in the first half we got this.  It's all about pressure and getting him off his spot. We don't do that we are in for a long day at the office.

Like you know what a long day at the office looks like. Lol

Its simple! We give them the run game. Minimal damage and they will follow the path of least resistance. Every D package we show will be to defend the pass. Luke and Davis are quick on there reads.

I think the most dangerous play the Cards can throw at us will be short passes to Johnson if we can not close the pocket.

Finnegan will not be on Fitzgerald. You play Fitzgerald like a TE at this point in his career. Think Jimmy Graham. LBs will take care of Fitzgerald with an occasional safety over the top if Fitzgerald gets deep enough, and he usually does not.

Norman cancels out whoever lines up on his side of the field.

Factor in the double teams needed on Star and KK. Max pro; 6 blockers.

One of the LBs cancels out David Johnson.

The LB who does not have Fitzgerald or David Johnson blitzes Palmer.

That leaves McClain on the final WR.

The key is both safeties can play deep all game and roam.

Mix in a safety blitz with Tre Boston when the Cards go with only 2 WRs.

It will be a very long day for Palmer.

Rotate cover LB to help on Fitz.  Luke and TD will need to spy David Johnson somewhat, so I'll think you'll see a scheme where they mask who has who.  McDermott will just need to have a halftime scheme change because the Cards WILL adjust when they figure it out.  Ariens is a very good coach.

We just cannot risk too many safety blitzes against these guys.  Floyd will have to be covered by Norman with help over the top.  Brown might present big problems for us if Palmer gets time.  Fitz, I think, in our scheme may not do as well as everyone thinks.  At least I hope so.  Key is pressure on Palmer early and often.

    • Option A:  Pay your starting QB starting QB money. Option B:  Look for a starting QB for 4-10 years (or longer) while wasting the talent at every other position.    How many of the top 20 QB's do you think are worth what they are being paid?   When you factor in the last year of his present deal his contract is really an average of 45 million per year which in today's QB market is a very, very good deal. I wish we'd had found a Brock Purdy to pay 50+ million a year right after we parted ways with Cam.  Ya'll go ahead and live in fairy tale land where good to great (much less elite) QB's are available to pay. Just the fact that they had the chance to pay Brock after the disaster of trading up for Lance is a testament that when you find a quarter back you can win with, complete in the playoffs and superbowls with, you pay him.
    • They will still be a playoff team but they aren't contenders anymore IMO. They won't be able to spend like they have when they went to a SB and proved he couldn't carry a win at that level with a really good team around him. Now he is going to have to do it with less to spend around him. They just locked in to being a playoff bound team that's going to be a known speed bump for whoever will represent the NFC in the SB.
    • Hmm. I think he'll live up to it. Last year, about half of his team was on IR it seems, at one time or another. Year before, Super Bowl appearance. Year before that, playoff run after being third on the depth chart and being pressed into service. Is he one of the greatest in the game right now? Nope. No chance of that. Is he in the top 10 going into next season? Pretty good chance of that.  Would 20 or more teams in this league love to have the guy as their starting QB. Most likely so. He's a good QB who can implement his coach's game plan to a T and has both the confidence of and confidence in his teammates. That'll take you a long way in this league if you've got the right cast around you, and he does.
