Moooooooose speaks on The Evolution of Cam Newton

I love the interview with Moose. It totally supports what I have been saying which that Cam was widely criticized when he came into this league.  He was not considered worth the number 1 pick by many. It has to be gratifying to watch everyone change their tune and have to eat crow. Cam is going to crown this season with a win in the Super Bowl and do in the NFL what he did in college. Win it al and take a decent offense and make them great. Will his team to victory with his athleticism and leadership. People who argue that Cam was the consensus pick in the draft need to hear Moose tell it like it was. The way I remember it  too, and not some revisionist history.

As I watched that I was thinking to myself, Why dont they have smart people like Moose on ESPN? He is an analyst. I hope he gets a lot more air time because he was spot on with everything he said including the part about being one of the only ones to put his word down on Cam.

I remember him arguing with Frank Garcia, Frank saying he didnt think Cam was gonna do anything in this league. In fact, pretty much all of WFNZ made a point to try and get as many doubters on the air as possible to stir up controversy. If they hadnt done that then maybe Cam would do more interviews with them.

Man they lost a lot of air time and marketing dollars by screwing that up. A couple of big interviews with Cam would get huge air time right now. Thats their system though, Chip Kelly style. WFNZ thinks its ok to just commit to being douchebags.

Moose decided to never start that show with Frank because thats what the WFNZ guys are all about. They wont inform you about how the offense works are give you details about the teams intricacies. Just that there was a disagreement or a fight or someone said we suck.

lol, Breaking Loose with Frank but woops no Moose. It couldve been awesome and the ratings couldve been huge. . . but WFNZ went with "Lets continue to be trolls".

Good to know I"m still in your head, on your mind.

Take a listen to this audio from 12:40-14:50.

From 12:40 it illustrates your thinking somewhat (Doug Farrar felt Cam would go #1 in Feb of 2011, then Gabbert signs with CAA, so there's a big media push with Gabbert, and Farrar thinks Gabbert may go #1 over Newton). Of course, you didn't think Newton would ever go #2 as far deep as Feb 2011 in the first place (hehe)....We get that.

Don't worry. All the Nolan Nolan Nawrocki, Running QB, Character issue's stuff's brought up as well. You know, the stuff you believed why 'many thought he was such an awful pick', such as the guys on WFNZ, Charlotte and in the media. LOL

From 14:20: The record is set straight regarding Cam and NFL people vs stereotypes and what's was said in the media. The writer specifically addresses, and debunks what you're saying here. And he was a believer, contributor of it somewhat; as you will see.

This takes place Feb 2011 as well, loooooooong before the draft (and 2015-16).

I will not quote the dialogue, cause I wanna make sure/see if you listened.

So please lets end the subject, and veiled passive aggressive outburst once and for all. We'll just agree to disagree, unless you have some sort of an agenda.

Ironically, your last contention was regarding Cam's rookie year (and how he couldn't throw, read defenses, and just wasn't that good a Rookie). So you lost that one, now you continue to expand things, and move the goal post where you feel you have more support.

BTW: Stay focused and please listen to that audio from 12:40-14:50 with a cogent, thoughtful response, if you do.

    • This play was never designed to go to either DJ or Odunze. The primary read is Burden who is stymied early, with the outlet being Kmet if Caleb doesn't like the option for Burden. Given the situation it's pretty obvious the simple play is to take the free yards with Kmet, or if you want to be aggressive just wait a beat longer for Burden to uncover on his double move. If Moore was ever going to be a viable target in this play then Caleb should have started out reading Odunze to hold the safety in the middle and then coming to Moore, but because he started the snap staring down the right and then came back to the middle late it made it where the safety's leverage remained to the outside of Moore, so he would never have imagined that pass actually being thrown to him in that situation. Realistically DJ's best option in that context is to just occupy the safety to leave a hole open for Caleb to get it to Burden, which is probably why he throttles down vs carrying the safety across.
    • Even with Sonny Styles still on the board I thought it's a no brainer to address the Oline after Icky's injury.  And how can you pass up Fano at 19 given our situation. Then the rest of the draft just kind of made sense with maybe the exception of Klubnik.  But if Canales can fix him and Young goes down. . .I think it's a solid pick. What do you think of this draft?
    • When we didn't trade him to the Rams or the Bears (I believe the Bears said they would take one of Brown/ Burns/DJ Moore) we should have just signed him and kept him.  We should have traded him to the Rams obviously and we should have kept DJ and traded Burns.  We made all three wrong choices with Burns lol.
