Um... aren't you forgetting the Arizona game?  His great return, that set up his excellent TD run ("22 yards" that was more like 80 as he crossed the entire field to get open), 2 catches for 59 yards, his 75 yard sprint & tackle to prevent Patrick Peterson from scoring....

If that's a bad game, Ill take more please, sir

This^^^

I am confident, based on his play during the AZ game, that if Ginn thought there was a way to the end zone during the SB he would have taken it without hesitation.

Ginn is built for speed, he is not going to run over too many defenders.

that was different and was a run play with the entire offense downfield blocking for him.  He had guys to take out defenders making a cut back possible.  On that play it was him against talib and ward.  if he tried cut back talib would have tackled him or ward would have caught him from behind.  There were no blockers in front to catch defenders peeling back.

Entire offense was blocking for him because he opted to to stay alive.

in football you neve can predict how things unfold.  Which is why people finish runs/routes.

my only issue with Ginn is that is why you look to upgrade and not stay content with what he is.  Maybe you can't upgrade, maybe you can.  There are a lot of potential quick return guys you can look at in a draft.

We didn't lose bc of Ginn but we lost be we have too many Ginn types all over the offense.

I rewatched the play and it was actually that piece of dog poo Talib who had the angle on Ginn.  The safety ward was trailing just behind the play.  Talib made up a lot of ground at the end of that run and Ginn was already angling towards the sideline to begin with.  It's hard to see a cutback lane at all based on the direction of the route and the defense angle of pursuit.

and let's remember what a huge piece of excrement Talib is....he would have tried his best to put Ginn out of the game if he had tried for an extra yard or two.  It wasn't worth the risk.

Between Talib being a demonstrably dirty player in that game, the pursuit to him as he was running, his previous injury, and the fact that the entire Broncos defense was trying to strip the ball from EVERYBODY who touched it on every tackle, Ginn did the smart thing. Give that ball to Funch or Olsen and he likely puts his hand through Talib's helmet and reaches that ball as far upfield as possible as he goes down.

I'm still mad we didn't try something crossing in the direction of Talib or a crack block on him. I wanted to see him get thumped a couple of times.

The only thing i was critical with Ginn about was his play on the INT, obviously the Cam one will get talked and picked apart for months, but it really looked like on the red zone INT that when Denver fumbled it, Ginn was in a great place to recover the ball

He might've been able to dive quickly, but I think he probably was trying to track the bounce a bit and scoop and score rather than simply recover. He didn't sense the defender RIGHT behind him who dove by his leg to recover it. That was costly. He recovers that fumble, then you just KNOW Cam is getting a designed run up the gut.

Honestly, I was waiting for it all game. We ran a veer out of a trips set where Cam, I believe, got 10 or 11 yards on a keep there. Then we never ran that type of play again. Same with a triple option where Cam honestly missed/disregarded the read, kept it even though the end stayed home, and pitched it to Fozzy for a first down. That's how you combat the blitz. Stretch the option plays wide, let those blitzers take those backside gaps because they won't get back to playside in time, at worst you get a one on one. I'll take Cam or Stew one on one 9 times out of 10.

This doesn't deserve a thread.

No one play of the offense killed us. It was a collection of mistakes and turn overs. Not Ted Ginn running out of bounds.

The thread title states the intent, so no surprise or click bait there.
As I told someone earlier, these forums are to discuss the finer nuances of the game.  That one play could've been a game changer, esp. in a defensive game such as that. Of course no single play lost the game, but if one or two of those things can be eliminated, we win....possibly

not even a dot on the blimp of fug ups we had but it's the SB leave no doubt. Give it all up, i understand running out of bounds on punt returns but in the future i hope ginn tries and get those extra yards, you need every edge you can get in the superbowl

again a non-factor but something i'd like to see him do in the future against good teams/close games

Exactly I don't mean to make it sound like he coughed up the ball on the one yard line. It's more or less the lack of EFFORT that kills me.  I can deal with seeing a guy have a bad game it happens, you can't control that in a sense. Effort is sheer and pure will power.

agree completely, this is my grip with ginn, he needs perfect ball placement to even catch the ball and even with that still drops the ball at times, that's all forgivable if you are bustin ass whenever you do make a catch but that's not really the case for him.......that play philly made i could never see ginn make, not because he can't because i'm pretty sure he wouldn't try to
