So I guess my question still stands. Could he come out of retirement like Finnegan did? Does retiring nullify his contract? Just wondering. I'm not well versed on NFL contracts.

Finnegan never submitted retirement papers to the NFL so technically he wasn't retired. Until Allen submits the retirement paperwork he could come back.

To me, it was a very big deal that he came into our locker room & accepted it as family & worked to fit in plus help instruct the younger guys. He had never been in a situation like that before. I've always liked him too. Lunch pail, leave it all on the field type of guy.

see is players like this are the reason i really wish we would have won the super bowl.

I love TD and Jared and all kinds of old vets that play the game with respect and integrity.

LOVE them.

But, and I admit being selfish about this, the primary reason I wanted the Panthers to win the SuperBowl was to make ME happy.

Sorry 'bout that.  :(

Thanks, Jared.  It was a pleasure having you this year and you helped the young guys get better.

Kony Ealy loved that dude.

No surprise Ealy stepped his game up so much this year.  Hell, I think ultimately that is going to be the ultimate payoff from having Allen here: the effect he had on Kony Ealy.

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
