Mississippi State defensive lineman Chris Jones is a Baller

Freakish talent, he ran a 1.7 10-yd split.  Also first guy in combine history to have a recorded sac.

The NFL Combine is painfully boring and remarkably unnecessary. But it is football-related so we watch, even though it's a glorified job interview.

On Sunday morning, Mississippi State defensive lineman Chris Jones had one of the most embarrassing job interviews of all time and also proved just how stupid even the most basic details of the event are.

Jones is listed at 6-5 and 305 pounds. People his size are not meant to wear spandex, let alone run in it.

During his attempt at the 40-yard dash, Jones had the dreaded "wardrobe malfunction," with the crotch of his spandex shorts ripping apart. Overcome with shock and confusion, Jones tripped over his own feet and went sliding crotch-first onto the turf.

So not only did Jones expose himself to the entire NFL and its audience, but he now has to deal with a severe case of "turf burn" for quite some time.

Now remember, this is basically a job interview, one televised to the whole world.

Imagine if this happened to a normal, non-athlete person. There is no rebounding from this.

It's hard to imagine a team purposely passing on Jones because his pants split in half, but it's also hard to imagine anyone forgetting about this in the near future.

CBS Sports player profile:

"Jones is still raw in several areas, but it's easy to see the potential due to his foot quickness and body type. Although he shows first-round flashes, it comes in spurts and the impact of his body of work doesn't warrant that high of a selection."

Dick jokes aside, I love that he laughed it off.  May as well have a good laugh when the world sees your junk.  Honestly, it probably hurt his time as he was like "Crap, my spandex blew up and my tally whacker is exposed!"  Then again, it might have spurned him on faster so he could dive on it.

Man, I'm trying hard not to make the jokes, but they are there....

    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
