If you were Denver.... who would you Franchise?

While we Panthers fans watch the clock and the news feeds to see news about Josh Norman being tagged today.... Denver's got a much trickier situation.   They've got Osweiler, Von Miller and Malik Jackson all due to hit Free Agency today.

Who would you tag if you were Elway?  Osweiler or Miller?

Anyone think they'll get a deal done with Miller before the 4 p.m. deadline today?

Here's PFF's take on the situation, arguing for a tag for Osweiller - but that's assuming they can sign Miller.

Von Miller.   Not even close

They didnt need much production st all to beat us in the SB. It wont be hsrd finding a QB to produce enough to just keep that defensive team going.

Yeah, Osweiler hasn't proven anything.  You can get a game manager to run the offense (Hey Trent Dilfer?) and keep the defense at it's best.

Yea this is an easy one. Miller. Franchise tag for a LB is so much less than what he'll be getting that even if they don't get a long term deal worked out there's still the benefit of saving $5mil or more on the season and the easy decision to franchise tag him again next year if necessary.

Agree with you all that Miller is the obvious choice.  I was shocked PFF expressed such optimism that Miller's contract would be signed by today.  Maybe they know something we don't... but given that Peyton hasn't announced his retirement yet, I would think that makes signing Miller difficult at the moment.

I'd tag Miller, but it wouldn't be an easy decision. If Brock hits FA and LA, CLE or HOU gives him $20M that you can't match then you're likely looking at Trevor Siemian as your starting QB and end of the round picks to draft a replacement. I also think Von is more likely to want to stay in Denver than Brock is so getting a deal done with Von would be easier than Brick before FA hits. Von is an all time great player and I'm still tagging him, but there is definitely an argument that Brock is the smarter choice.

    • There is so much wrong with this post it's scary. First, as it's been explained to you, the Bills call was 100% correct, he never actually had control of the ball outside of literally less than a half second of time, you're stuck on super slow mo and still frames as your proof.   And second, the refs get almost zero replay assistance on the types of calls that make people say they are terrible at their jobs.  Replay assistance is for things like catches, in/out of bounds, fumbles, and ball placement.  Fans really don't care much about those things and if refs are right or wrong, because of the replay assistance (only comes into factor when it's too close to call so the original call stands) They don't get any assistance on the rest of the penalties that are always what fans get upset about and why people say refs are terrible.  Namely, things like holding and PI, both called and missed, which they get absolutely zero replay assistance for. It's those things I'm talking about where it's really tough for 7 refs to catch everything all the time.  They can only watch so many things at once, and that's if they even have a line of sight on the penalty, so many times the ref is watching the play but the player's bodies are between the ref and the penalty, particularly PI.
    • Slowik was who I wanted as our HC when we hired Canales.  He clearly had an idea of how to maximize Strouds talent. sophmore slumps happen, but he fell off a cliff this year and I believe it can be due to getting rid of him.
    • Trey has plenty of tape standing up surprisingly. Guys like him have the technique and IQ to play the position for awhile. Cincy definitely  did him wrong and I'd gladly accept  him.  He would allow us to continue developing  Princely etc too.  Take an MLB or olineman with 19 or trade back and add more picks.  I'd assume free agent rushers would welcome the fact we have good coverage.
