From the "Cam's contract looks like a bargain" file: Sam Bradford signs 2 yr. $36MM extension

eh it was supposedly done as a cap move to try and maneuver peppers into a long term contract.  obviously it didn't work out but the people who were arguing in favor of it at the time (like my dumb ass) tended to take that angle.

At least you can own up to your misgivings.

I blame it on Kurt Warner because that's what our front office thought Jake was.

Mistaken identity.

Bradford is the most overpaid player in NFL history.

Also, Flacco just got an extension, something around 3 years 66 million. So yeah, that Cam contract is looking better and better.

I wonder how much Cam lost by not waiting until after the season he wins MVP without a #1 WR to throw to.

I'm counting blessings, that's for sure.

im really excited about this offseason and have a feeling that this team is still on the rise, with a good chunk of unspent salary$ to plug holes with proven players, getting injured players back and having a full draft of BPAs.

Love this organization!

Flacco's cap number was going to be something like $30MM in 2016... insanity. Should be interesting to see the contract acrobatics they do with him in the coming years.

Happens a lot after Super Bowl wins, unless you have Tom Brady.

According to Sportrac, Cam is #11 in salary rankings.

Thats not bad considering no one knew he was going to become a league MVP and the guys above him, well most of them, have won Championships and have won league MVP awards.

I mean Cam has a higher salary than Aaron Rodgers. It's hard to complain about that.

They should be ok. It appears from the reports on the numbers that they have mostly flattened his cap hit numbers for the next 3-4 years to be in the low-mid 20s which while high is nothing insane for a franchise QB and is manageable with the current cap. I imagine it probably spikes up again after that but by then the salary cap is going to be like $200M and they'll be able to cut him without too much dead money at that point so it's not too big of a deal for them.

    • I mean, he's a professional athlete.  What you think as a fan vs what he should think as a player are completely different.  Being bad doesn't mean you should lack confidence in yourself, and really that is true in all forms of life.  Do everything you want to do with confidence. Justin Fields sucks, but does he ever play like someone who doesn't believe in his own abilities?   Obviously you need more than confidence to be a high-level NFL player, and Bryce will never be that.  But he could still create 2-3 extra plays a game if he allowed himself to play more "free" like he did in the second half of last season.  The fact he refuses to use his legs to pick up yards nowadays hurts this team.  Simple things like that would go a long way for us, even if not for him.
    • I've always thought it odd that the QB is the only guy in the roster who carries a record. If a RB puts up 1200 yards but the team sucks then everyone still says the RB had a good year. If a QB puts up good numbers put the D is atrocious and the win loss record isn't great due to that then the narrative is that the QB can't win. Now that we're finding a way to win with suddenly dominant D and dominate running game people are trying to shift to this "Bryce is just a winner" narrative while he puts up bottom of the league numbers while near the top of the league in turnovers. It's just funny to watch.
