Hmm...why isn't a single Panther, not even in the secondary, mad at Josh?

They're universally supporting him on social media and congratulating him on getting paid. But Huddlers have been telling me that Josh betrayed them by wanting money instead of a chance at a ring. Surely you people aren't wrong right? If Josh was really betraying the team by wanting to get paid, they would be mad or at least wouldn't be publicly backing him on social media like Tre Boston and Charles Tillman and Bene Benwikere and Mike Tolbert and Ryan Kalil and Kawann Short (that I know of so far) have done in the past hour.

So all the Huddlers saying Josh put money and greed ahead of the team...I haven't heard one person that actually plays on that team echo that. Just the opposite. Interesting, what's up with that?

This was Josh's only real time to get paid. He knew deep down that G-man most likely wasn't going to offer that big of a payday and he is approaching 30 already. His teammates know the deal. Get paid while you can. Everybody's happy, let's move on.

because the fans are selfish thats why..

The Fans don't play the game..the players do..Its their bodies out there..not the fans..

As Josh said earlier in the season they are family..they didnt greet each other with a nod or handshake..they greeted each other with hugs..a brotherhood was formed..business won't change that..

I'm not happy. Are you happy that our stud franchise corner in his prime won't be here next year and we got nothing for him?

The alternative was paying him more than he's worth to our defense. So yes, I'm happy we made the right call by not making him the highest paid corner in league history at 28 years old.

    • I've shown you numerous comps for other tackles in the same age and talent range.  His contract, taking into account his age, health, etc.  is the going rate.  It's a fair deal. I've shown you examples of how long it usually takes to find even an average replacement.  Hell, look at every tackle that has ever started for the Panthers.  How many would you consider a success?  They are not easy to find. After everything we've done with this team since drafting Bryce why would we decide to let our best linemen go and add a huge question mark at tackle?   FA is a crapshoot in which any guy available will have cons/issues.  If not, they'll cost a fortune.   Outside of a first or maybe 2nd round pic next year it'll take a few years for a tackle to learn the position at the NFL level.  There are still questions about Icky. Every vet NFL player deals with maintenance.  Between the contract value and history I'm not overly worried about his knee.  I contend his knee issue isn't anything to be overly worried about.  It's not zero risk but it's an acceptable risk.  Every player we draft and every contract we sign has risk.  You're blowing up his own negative words about his knees and ignoring him saying he is healthy and the knee is a non issue.  You have a strong chicken little complex with this team.  Being he has always been a Panther they are very aware of any health issues. We paid now because now is cheaper.  If his knee was really an issue they would have waited.  That tells me it's not the issue you want it to be.
