Gettlemen offered Norman just above 10 mill per season

I'd say that's what he's worth within our system...he's a great corner, among the best in the nfl. But the Panthers rely far more on pressure from the front 7 then elite coverage skills from the back end. If we had broken the bank with Jno we might not have money down the road with kk or star, who are more valuable to our defense then an all pro corner would be.

Would have only been the 10th highest paid corner in the league. Just a hair above what Jason McCourty is making in Tennessee. But Norman is the greedy one lol.

I get what you are saying, but that isn't the panthers fault Tennessee over paid for their guy, no reason we should for ours. I'm a big fan of Josh too, no hate towards him whatsoever, glad he got paid...just not that much by this team.

That's what he's worth in our system.  There's no way we could've or should've given him the deal the Skins did.  Not with having Short and/or Star and Turner and/or Norwell to lock up.  Dave is always gonna prioritize the trenches.

Let's see what Norman does in DC.  Maybe he was a product of our system/coaches?  Maybe his brashness goes completely over the top now that he's the highest paid CB in the league and TD isn't around to reel him back in?  We shall see...

1 year of elite play, Josh getting up in age. Now if Josh played at the same level on the franchise tag, then he would have 2 years elite play. Im sure Gman wouldnt of lowballed him then, Josh was just greedy and punched his ticket out of town.

I'm not sure you understand how the FA market works.  Janoris Jenkins had about the same trajectory but didn't even play close to as well as Josh, and got paid a significant amount more than this lowball offer.    When you have a choice between a one year deal at 13/11 mill a year or a 5 year, 75$ million 50 guaranteed deal in your life, come back and tell us you took the cheap route because you're "not greedy".    You aren't an athlete and you aren't making that money.  Also, cut about 50% off the top from taxes and agent fees.  Athletes don't get to hide their earnings in offshore accounts or capital gains, they get hit hard on taxes.

    • The defense is 28 out of 32 in salary cap allocation for 2025. We have a ton of resources tied up in the offense including the highest paid OL in the league multiple 1st round WR's and multiple recent draft picks across the offense at TE and RB and we have two 1000 yard backs. Bryce and company couldn't get past Tyler Shough and his crew in 2 games. That's all there is to it. You can spin it and put the entire onus on the defense to your heart's desire it doesn't change the fact that this is an OFFENSIVE team now. If you want to argue that we should revert back to a defensive identity as we have been in the past which has brought us success then I will agree with you on that. But as it stands the onus is on the offense because that is where we have invested through the nose. Dave Canales and Bryce Young need to do a hell of a lot better than they have against the rebuilding Saints who without us should only have 2 wins this season.
    • Bryce is not trending up. He is the same QB he has always been. Bottom of the league in most categories.  If Canales thinks he can build a contender with Bryce then he is a bigger idiot then I thought.  Offense next year will have the same issues and be just as inconsistent as it was this year.  We have seen Bryce’a ceiling and it is 175 yards a game and that is not a QB you keep around as your starter. That is barely a backup.
    • Looks like Darnold should have had at least 3 picks. That'll get ugly in the playoffs eventually. Can't deny his physical talent though. You either have that or you don't. Mike Macdonald is a legit coach.
