Question re: 30 visits...

So, in his presser on Thursday, Gettleman confirmed that we used all 30 of our visits this year.   How many of those 30 can we identify?  I've been following @Ken's list of prospects we've met with over in the draft forum, but that includes guys we met with at the Combine, Shrine game, etc...

We know that so far Gettleman has always met with round 1 draft picks.

We have guys who seem like they could be interesting picks for us (Bullard, Hunter Henry) but there's no reports of us meeting with them.

I'm curious to see how many of the 30 meetings we can identify and how many may have stayed under the radar.   I'm not clear enough on what constitutes an "official 30 visit" (to use a rather infamous thread title from last week...LOL) to really be able to compile such a list.

Thanks in advance.

Just from using Walters info on meetings the guys we've had multiple encounters with are.

3 Meetings

Vernon Butler- DT / Louisiana Tech

Kevin Byard- S / Middle Tennessee

Germain Ifedi- OT / Texas A&M

Harlan Miller- CB / SE Louisiana

2 Meetings

Tyler Boyd- WR / Pittsburgh

Derrick Henry- RB / Alabama

Shaq Lawson- DE / Clemson

Chris Moore- WR / Cincinnati

Emmanuel Ogbah- DE / Oklahoma State

Dak Prescott- QB / Mississippi State

Jarran Reed- DT / Alabama

Noah Spence- DE / Eastern Kentucky

Darian Thompson- S / Boise State

I'm not going to read too much into these since sometimes these are injury checks and sometimes related to character issue players. If I did have to predict since this is the first I've looked this list over in about two weeks is that I think our 1st will be BPA based, so if one of the 1 meeting guys falls with a higher ranking they'll be the pick.

The fact that Ogbah is now on the list stands out to me, he could very well be the pick. I also think we shouldn't overlook Ifedi as the pick even though I bet the Huddle would meltdown, something just screams hog mollie in the first. Basically it looks like either DT, DE, or OT in the 1st with an outside chance of Derrick Henry if he's still on the board. 2nd would be bpa, but leaning toward S, WR or TE and 3rd seems to be S, WR, or CB.

Yeah, I appreciate the effort, but the effort has been putting way too much emphasis on media mock drafts which are notoriously unreliable.

It's what's available to me for free...  Not trying to use them to predict anything really.  Just curious to see if they can identify patterns with any accuracy.

I'm not too invested in this.  It looks like we will have some very nice choices at #30 and #62 and I have tons of confidence in Gettleman.

This is just an exercise in doing fun things in Excel and figuring out how to collate and present data.  I've not had to do much data analysis for work in about 3 months, and I was bored! LOL.

^ Ifedi has superior measurables to DJ Humphries and Ja'Wuan James, two guys we likely would have taken had they fallen to us the last two years.  Fwiw.

By measurables, I am going to assume you're referring to his size and Combine numbers.

I am pretty sure that my buddy @MHS831 likes this guy as well, but I don't think that his body of work was as complete as James' in particular, and his scouting reports aren't nearly as positive as either Humphries' or James'

Like I mentioned in the thread last week, I believe that PFF is about the most objective when it comes to these reports, so I will leave this here.

Quote

Position fit:
Offensive tackle or guard. Played right tackle at Texas A&M

Stat to know:
96.2 pass-blocking efficiency was 76th in the FBS

Combine stats:
Height: 6-6
Weight: 324
Arm length: 36 inches
Hand size: 10 ¾ inches
40-yard dash: 5.27
Broad jump: 9-1
Bench: 24
20-yard shuttle: 4.75

What he does best:
• Body of an NFL tackle. Insanely long arms that can stone defenders in their tracks when he times his punch well. Graded out much higher in pass protection as a sophomore
• Naturally powerful man. Tossed around linebackers when he squared them up
• Will ride defenders all the way to the ground on double teams. Buried more than a few defensive tackles on the backside of inside zone

Biggest concern:
• His long arms are doing him no favors at the moment. Lacks any ability to latch on and maintain a block. Hand placement is a mess
• Change of direction is so poor. Was exposed in pass protection this past season where he graded negatively. Had no chance against any sort of quickness
• Plays so hunched over. Leads to his hands flying out too wide and poor balance. Was left waving at linebackers at the second level far too often

Player comparison:
Donovan Smith, Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ifedi will have many of the same pass pro issues as Smith did his rookie season and both could end up at guard

Bottom line:
People will fall in love with his NFL frame, but his technique isn’t close to an NFL level yet. It will take him a handful of years to get to there if he ever does.

Thanks in advance.

An official 30 visit is when we bring a prospect into our offcial facilities. We are not allowed to work them out. Usually take them out to dinner afterwards. Each team is only allowed 30.

Local draft prospects(guys from Carolina schools) do not count as a 30 visit.

A lot of the times we workout guys AND bring them in for a private visit, so it's hard to track sometimes.
