These are gonna be some of probably the most anticipated rookie deubts I can remember in a while. Most of our picks i've know what to expect for the most part because I've seen multiple games of them and know what type of player they are. I have no idea about these guys and this is the most research I've ever done before a draft. I have extreme confidence in our f.o and coaching staff however and can't wait to see these guys. If they can play we'll get it out of them.

I'd temper my expectations for this year. Personally, I don't anticipate players drafted in the second round or later to make a true impact in their rookie years (unless it's very early in the second). That being said, I agree that we have one hell of a coaching staff, and that it's only a matter of time before one of them breaks out.

Great posts and finds; it looks like Gettleman paid a lot of attention to advanced metrics/stats and the Senior Bowl this year. According to Ethan Young's Slaytics Evaluation which @KB_fan posted a link to, all of our picks except for Zach Sanchez (37) were in the top 7 for their respective position groups: Butler was 1st among NT, Bradberry was 3rd and Worley 7th respectively among CBs, and Beau Sandland was 2nd for TE. Sanchez was taken for his production moreso than his metric number, and all of our picks were tailored to our scheme (no-brainer). Besides this there is also our UDFA signings- we signed Keyarris Garrett who was 8th among WR; Jeremy Cash was the second best rated left for S (13), just behind Tyvis Powell (12). Jared Norris was the 7th best LB (27) remaining that was undrafted, but 3rd according to his combine grade on NFL.com and behind only one player there who had a higher metric grade also (Will Ratele, North Dakota). Jake McGee was 20th among TE. Johnson, Bonnet, and Stoshak were not in the metric but are scheme fits/camp bodies. Gettleman's draft style is clear- he wants athletes that can grow and be taught and/or anyone with high production that (also) fits our scheme- while he does say he goes BPA, they do address our needs according to him. I was not aware of these metrics/stats but Gettlemen undeniably uses them- that much is clear in his picks and why we don't see the value without them. Interesting stuff for sure and something to pay attention to in future drafts.

Guys not to burst your bubble or anything, but according to this measurement, Jared Goff was the 12th best QB in this draft. Paxton Lynch was #1, Wentz was 4th. He has Joel Stave and Jeff Driskel ahead of Wentz as well.

Oh and his #1 WR was Moritz Boehringer. #2 was Mitch Mathews.

Just look at his top 10 WRs:

1. Moritz Boehringer.

2. Mitch Mathews.

3. Josh Doctson

4. Devon Cajuste

5. Marquez North

6. Ricardo Louis

7. Chris Moore

8. Keyarris Garrett

9. Malcolm Mitchell

10. Reggie Diggs

Remember that his system ranks players by a combination of measurables and athleticism. So the top players are going to be a mix of big, fast, and agile. It doesn't take anything else into account. If you want to see his actual big board, which goes into greater scouting depth, you can go to http://theyoungscout.wix.com .

Dudes got some very interesting information that is for sure, hope it's as good as he's claiming. does seem like the seahawks have been relying heavily on this model according to him, and we seem to be trying to do the same according to him.

You are almost right.

They actually developed all these advanced metrics based on Dave's football knowledge and success rate in the draft.

This is amazing info guys, thanks a lot @SCPantherFan90 and @KB_fan

It really does look like Dave has aligned to these metrics for all the positions where athleticism > mental in the evaluation.

Do we have any of these stats from last year or two years ago to check how we did for people like KB, Shaq etc?

Particularly like the final paragraphs in his scouting report:

Of the fifteen “Blue” TLP’s in this class, eight are defensive backs. It’s slightly easier for DBs to end up there, but controlling more than half of the TLP list is still impressive nonetheless. It’s a great year to grab a DB late in the draft.

Laquon Treadwell, Hunter Henry, A’Shawn Robinson, Adolphus Washington, Kalamei Correa, Su’a Cravens, and Mackensie Alexander are some notable players I wouldn’t be comfortable taking, especially where they currently being projected.

Looks like we nailed it.
