2016 NFL DRAFT ROUND 4 GENERAL DISCUSSION

I largely trust Gettleman... he's not NFL Exec of the year for nothing, and he built a SuperBowl contender while in Cap Hell, and rebuilding 3 position groups.....

But to be honest, this smacks a bit of desperation.  I really wonder what went down with the Norman situation.  I feel a bit bad for our scouts who invested so much in scouting players at other positions to have us take all these CBs.   Feel there are some missed opportunities from this draft at the moment.

Gettleman is funny for real....I mean hell the idea is...can't hate on the idea....1 of these 3 will work no doubt about it.

Yes, I am entertained, and I love his Chutzpah (PERFECT word for him...!!  Should have his pic next to it in the Yiddish dictionary).

I'm not really complaining, I just am a bit worried about our depth at RB and on the Oline. Thought these last 2 picks could help with that.

Pretty sure it's not just about Norman.

As someone else said, we didn't have much behind Benwikere and Boykin.

The real shocker is when we pick next to last in the 7th and it's another CB from an obscure school. Gman gonna be like, we had a first round grade on him, and nobody has even heard of him before

LOL

And he ends up better than Bradberry.

Wonder if Worley is going to Safety

He and Bradberry are both sized for safety. We'll see.

As for having too many CB's on the roster, how can anyone forget them picking up McClain and Finnegan off the scrap heap last season. The fact that they were the ones getting on the field says a lot about the other CB's.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Hope this doesn't come back to haunt us.

you guys know we lost both Norman and Tillman, right?

Yup, sure do.  And Bene is coming back from a nasty broken leg.... so, yeah.  I was cool with 2 CBs, but 3 seems a bit much.  Remember we picked up Boykin in FA

u know we have aging positions.  CB is only one position.  Carolina really needs to add some Oline depth.  Thats the position I am most worried about.  One injury can impair that Oline significantly.  Gettlemen has put more emphasis on rotating DT's to lessen the burden on the secondary yet drafts 3 CB's.  Thats kind of contradictory.  It seems he is in panic mode about CB.

    • Is there any real statistical evidence of this beyond anecdotal things like washed vets signing with the Chiefs or Pats every once in a while?  it doesn't really hold up.  Everyone gets paid in FA.  Everyone gets paid on 2nd contracts.  Its just how it is.  Do you think Icky would make less in FA than he would with a Panther extension?  Is that what's being implied?
    • Fitts fuged up the Burns contract by not taking the trade. He lost his leverage at that point. That level offer was for a top 3 complete edge rusher which Burns never was. It should never have been a debate. Take the Rams offer if we weren't going to pay Burns that type of contract.  Icky should get paid. Where it will get interesting is when/if Bryce demands an extension after this year. If he follows the trend of 1st round QBs drafted and immediately starting for their team, and still with them, end of 3rd year is extension time. If Bryce demands his 45-50m per season and Morgan/Tepper pays it, I see Icky starting for someone else and us looking to the draft or FA market for a new LT.
    • Ickey has earned a good new contract obviously. We do need to draft a RT maybe in the 2026 draft.
