Congrats to sister club Leicester City on winning Premiere League

Recommended Posts

So excited.  Such a great story.  Love the connection our teams have formed.

Hope this inspires the Panthers afresh to go out and win the Super Bowl this year.  Obviously we won't be the underdog or a Cinderella story like LC this season, but still... to overcome the Super Bowl hangover and become the first team since the 72 dolphins to win the SB after losing the previous year... that would be something truly special!  (Even better if we go 19-0 and break the 'Phins perfect season record in the process!)

Except for people are actually happy for Leicester City.

The crazy thing is that the Browns are 200-1 to win the SB this year. Leicester was 5000-1 to win the Premier League.

I actually think the odds of the Browns winning would be way better. The way the Premier league works this is an incredible achievement for a team that was widely perceived as a punching bag for the rest of the league at the outset of the season.

Yeh but I don't really think 5000-1 was (obviously in hindsight) as out of reach as 200-1 is for the Browns winning the Superbowl. Given in the last 20 years teams like Leeds, Blackburn and Newcastle have all got to touching distance of the premier league title, and I can't remember the last time there was a completely shocking superbowl winner, I think those odds are too far apart.

I would put the chances of the Browns winning the superbowl closer to 2000-1 if the odds on Leicester at the beginning of the season was 5000-1.

Leicester barely avoided getting relegated last year and fired their manager before the season even started. Historically the BPL is one of the least competitive leagues. Prior to this year, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Arsenal had won every league title dating back to 1994.

I would agree that the Browns chances of winning the SB should be worse than 200-1, but Leicester City winning the title is the greatest (no exaggeration) underdog story in history.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
