Night and Day

Just wanted to take a moment to stress how different Stephen Hill looks this year. The difference is night and day.

Last year at this time, there was at least 7 or 8 drops a day from him. That is no exaggeration. This year through two practices, I have only seen one single drop.

With his size and speed, if he can add in an ability to at least have an average drop rate.... watch out. This kid could be a monster. carolina-panthers-otas-12.jpg

I would think this is a make or break year for him. Can't keep investing a roster spot or even a PS squad spot on a guy every year without some game time production.

We've done that with Bersin for like the last three years now...and we've got no more than a move the chains once a game receiver who doesn't play special teams.  I imagine Hill can at least do that.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
