Will Cam want to renegotiate his contract after another MVP season?

I really do wonder about this, especially given Luck's new contract. If he has another MVP or near-MVP season or 2, is there any chance that he plays out the full 5 years of his contract as currently written? What say you, Huddle?

I doubt it. I have a feeling he understands that having a team around him is more important than a couple of extra million. Cam is already the highest paid endorser in the NFL.Having the best team will keep him at the top which will send more money his way.

Thats some super optimistic stuff right here. Kinda how Josh Norman would take a few million dollar paycut to stay here right. I don't think we have too many players who would give back to the team. Look at the top super stars and tell me who takes a paycut to improve the team. Tom Brady is the only one I can think of who does take a paycut to improve the team. I'd say 95% of players in the league strictly look after themselves and the other 5% actually would take a paycut to help out the rest of the team. It would be awesome if Cam fell in that 5%.

I believe I read it somewhere a couple months back that the panthers have already agreed to revisit his contract after this season.

The point of my post was that he wasn't in fact taking a paycut. By having an elite team around him, that helps him stay at the top where the endorsement money is. So he's not really taking a paycut. Otherwise, he takes a bigger contract and makes more money, but has a worse team, and the endorsement money isn't there as much because of that. It's a tradeoff and one that seems to be a smarter decision than the other. I'm sure that has to be in his mind or the mind of his agent.

I think Cam understands that not wringing every dollar from the Panthers greatly benefits him in the long run. The man deserves to be paid of course, but I don't see him going full Brees.

I can guarantee you he doesn't.

They will get a new contract done three years into this deal, as it both makes sense for the Panthers (they can tuck on 2-3 years) and Cam (he gets an increase and more importantly a new chunk of guaranteed money).

Just like every other team with a top 15 qb.

Thing is also, it does not necessarily benefits Cam long term to renegotiate already next of season with both the cap and qb market rising every year.

    • He has made some good throws yes. His arm isn’t great by any professional measure though It might be decent enough, but the poor footwork inhibits it.  So he has to really focus on that and from what I’ve seen he is not consistent.    peace.
    • If only Bryce were 8'1" then CJ wouldn't have needed Woody Marks to carry him against the Titans nor the defense to carry him with 3 picks vs. Cooper Rush. If he were a real QB, he'd have thrown for over 250yds and the Texans wouldn't be 2-3. /s See? I can do the same dumb, lame poo that y'all do. Doesn't this make the board a better experience overall? 🙂
    • Their defense is on track to be worse than ours last year. Their run D is in the bottom half but their pass D is horrible.    32nd overall D, 32nd passD, 23rd rush D We are going to have to throw the ball against them, which means down field where they are vulnerable. Problem is Turnover Fred struggles to push the ball down the field and we have the 26th ranked pass offense. Running will help but will have to beat them through the air. On the flip side, Dallas’ offense is awesome.    1st overall, 3rd pass, 8th run.    But Evero’s defense is ranked 12th right now with the pass D around 10th and rush D around 14th.    If we can take care of the football (looking at Bryce) and we make plays down the field (also looking at Bryce) we can win, yes.
