Bene to start camp on Pup

Per Ron Rivera on his first training camp interview on periscope. I think this is huge in a way because the young CB's will get a ton of reps while Bene continues to rehab and get better.

I hope he rests up and gets to 100%. He has given us great value for a 5th round pick, but he needs to prove he can withstand an entire season.

Well, this is actually bad news. Yes, the rookies do need the reps but so does Bene. Been a while since he played and he isn't an aged veteran.

Exactly what I was thinking.  He's just going to get further behind, and that's bad for him, and our secondary as a whole.

I am a huge optimist at this point every year, but I just cannot see the positive in this. Bene is badly needed out there.

That's one of the reasons I think the hand DG played at CB was a little careless.

I just want to make it through TC without any major injuries. This sucks though, Bene needs to build chemistry with the rookies.

It could.  It did, IMO.  Hopefully he will only miss a week or two.  If he misses all of camp... I don't want to think about it.

Definitely not ideal, but not as doom and gloom as some put it. rookies get much needed reps against the ones

Why this is pretty bad news:

1. Bene will be asked to jump (basically) from the nickel to covering the #1 wr.  that is a bigger jump than from college to #2 cb.

2. We can play with 1 rookie CB out there--not 2.

3. It also suggests the break was pretty dang bad.  Some never recover--has he lost a step?  He was  a 4.69 40 guy at his pro day (4.63 at combine).  He can't afford to lose much speed.
