There aren't enough kick returns these days to justify a roster spot for a KR specialist. Especially now that the ball goes out to the 25.

You don't think teams are going to SPECIALIZE in purposely kicking it short so they won't allow teams to automatically start off at the 25? Actually, this year might be THE BEST year to have a beast kickoff return man because of teams purposely kicking it short this year because of that new stupid rule. I totally forgot about that new rule. This actually bumps Byrd up for me.

Some teams will, some teams won't. Also easier said than done from a kicker's perspective. But the incentive to take the ball out of the end zone is essentially nothing now.

Byrd has more upside but Bersin is the better player right now. However, I honestly don't expect either to make the roster. Even though he has done nothing here Norwood more than likely gets the last spot because there is a draft pick technically invested in him.

Byrd is a liability with a critical game on the line. Bersin has shown he can be relied on when it matters for a winning drive.

If Byrd could always secure the ball and make me believe he is a threat whenever he touches the ball, then I would go Byrd. Until he shows he can be consistent in a preseason game, then he should not be considered for return man as long as the Panthers have Ginn on the roster.

We all know what happens with shaky return men. Let's not repeat that mistake.

Love Bersin's heart and drive.

My biggest question is can he really get open against the #2 and #3 CBs? We already know that #1s lock him up like he stole something.

I think Byrd's speed forces defenses to account for him - kind of like Ginn.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing him and Ginn outside and KB and Funch work the inside with Olsen. Safeties would have to respect Ginn and Byrd's speed, giving Cam 3 huge targets working underneath routes and seems.

    • We don't have to tear down Dak to appreciate what Bryce did yesterday. Dak had 0 running game. If the cowboys were better, he'd be a legit MVP candidate if he keeps playing this way.  They did it with Ceedee last year, but they do a better job of anybody we play consistently of getting their best receiver off Jaycee.  Bryce was good too. If we just catch the ball that was intercepted, we probably win by 7+, and Bryce goes over 200 yards passing.  Biggest shift the last few weeks has been play calling. I thought Canales abandoned the run game way to early at times last year. This year he really seems to be sticking with it.  I still think Chuba is better at making 4 yards when there's nothing there, but Rico is better at making 30 yards when there's 6 there. I like the direction. Hopefully we can get Moton, Sanders and Coker back and really be dangerous. Our play action game is pretty deadly right now.  Unrelated: My favorite quality about Bryce right now is his ability to see the defensive hold and throw the ball there. He EXPOSES the officials when they don't call it. That one on Tetaroia yesterday late in the game was a bad miss on their part.
    • That sacks allowed number lookin juicy!
    • This is a game the Panthers should win... just the sort of game they lose. The Panthers have a bad habit that goes back years of playing down to the competition's level only to mess around and lose the game. The Jets game should be taken very seriously! But I want to enjoy the fact that they beat the Cowboys for at least another day or so!
