I just find it hard to believe we'll keep six receivers on the roster. It made more sense to do so last year and yet rolled out with only five. That said, picking between the two most likely candidates, Byrd and Bersin, is more difficult because the latter may finally be picked up by someone (the Patriots come to mind).  If we keep five only, the free spot goes to either someone that we won't play but want to keep or someone else's cut.

Agree.. Simonson has looked bad in game situation and Lucas is a better athlete..

We definitely didn't have 6 WRs of this quality

But is that quality worth more than quality elsewhere on the roster? That's the answer we'll be getting soon. There is some satisfaction, however, that we have this problem of having difficult cuts to make. Too many answers on the roster is better than not having enough.

Fozzy Whitaker, Brenton Bersin, Philly Brown, Scott Simonson, Ed Dickson, Gino Gradkowski, Mike Remmers, Chris Scott, Wes Horton, Robert McClain and Colin Jones all need to be let go. Those are 11 spots to find new/young players to test out and develop. We all know what to expect from all of these players and seeing the playing field is not what we want from any of them. They are just a waste of time and roster space. Move on and look for players that are more valuable and have potential to impact a game.

Marcus Lucas is the only player who should be on the roster that was left off. Then again I would have had Lucas on the roster over Brandon Williams, Scott Simonson, Brenton Berstin, and Jason Avant the past 2 seasons. For some reason the front office thought those wasted players were/are more valuable than a TE/WR who can catch TDs in the red zone and has a knack for slipping behind the secondary while catching sidelines passes for first downs.

Wasting 20% of a roster on players we know should never touch the field does not seem wise. At least role the dice on a player that may make an impact.

Also, you clearly haven't been watching preseason if you would put Gradkowski on the list. He's been a very solid backup to Kalil and a vast improvement over last year. I won't even go into the others like McClain and Brown who are solid depth and performed well when called upon last year. Remember Brown's 8 receptions for 193 yards in the NFC Championship and Super Bowl? How about McClain being the starting CB after Tillman went down?

Again, please give us your 11 replacements. I want a good laugh.

He's not saying they have to be starters, just guys with more potential than the same projects that haven't turned into anything.

Do you honestly believe any of those 11 players would be missed tomorrow? Their back ups are just as capable as they are with more potential. Not to mention a team has to deactivate 7 players each week. Then you factor in that the bottom 11 players on a 53 man roster see 1% of the field time for a team in a season.

This front office is going to replace 20% of the roster throughout the season with street free agents and washed up veterans anyway. History has proven that point.

      Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.

      Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
