Norman and Sanchez have nothing in common other than being drafted in the 5th round. Gettleman is obviously not having any "heartburn" over cutting him, and surely he'd have some reservations about cutting the 2nd coming of Norman if that was the case.

Norman was making impact plays from the beginning when we drafted him and was even lining up against Steve Smith early on, when we still had Gamble on the team. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d829de05b/article/steve-smith-trades-barbs-with-teammate-josh-norman

Josh Norman has something you can't teach either and thats size. No matter how much we coached up Sanchez his ceiling was never going to be nearly high as Norman's.

I am not a Gettleman apologist by any means. I criticized the guy more than anyone on this board during the 2014 offseason and not to toot my own horn but all my concerns proved to be legit as we fell to 7-8-1.

Sanchez was drafted as a player that didn't liken playing within a system and gambled and went rogue.

Norman under Rivera spent tons of time in the doghouse for freelancing and not just doing his job.

those are both facts, right?

I never compared them in any other manner.

What it is, is a statement about our head coach.  Maybe that had something to do with Sanchez getting cut and maybe it didn't.  But it certainty is far to say

Ok, if that's there only comparison's then why are you sweating his release so much?

We have both been on this board a long time and maybe another or 2 before the huddle existed. I say that because I agree with 90% of the things you post but have also noticed you will never concede an argument and I don't want to waste too much time going back and forth on this with you today.

The front office deemed him worth a shot, to see if he could catch on and take advantage of the opportunities available to him. If he didn't capitalize on those opportunities on the field or  perhaps off the field even then no big deal imo. Giving up early on a 5th round corner with potential to play the nickel, is different than if we gave up early on a 3rd round pick with potential to man the the outside(Worley).

Do you really fear this guy is going to be setting the league on fire in the future or are you more upset at the fact it was a wasted pick that we could have gambled on another position at?

You say this like its a surprise .. like we're the worst team in the NFL .. or we werent just in the Super Bowl

"Must have had 53 that are better"

As if people believe it's unlikely that we do, but whatever Gettleman

Get real people

If you draft 7 players and all 7 make the team, your team probably sucks

Really?!?!? We have that many good players.....

OMG I never knew.  Thank you so much for clarifying that for me.   You are sooooo knowledgeable.   I appreciate you taking your time out of your busy schedule to come inform us with your superior knowledge of our team.

Please feel free to work your way back to the War room and finish helping DG groom this team down to our 53.

You'll probably read this and not see the sarcasm.

STFU....  I know our talent level... probably far more than you.   That wasn't sarcasm.

Get Real yourself.  You are NOT all that.

Just surprised.  I'm more sweating the DB situation than anything.  This just happens to be the most recent tidbit about a concerning group. I think his release highlights how much of a question mark it is...because we got desperate IMO in the draft after a sudden twist in the Norman situation

This I agree with. How can anyone not be concerned when our entire secondary had such a dramatic overhaul?

We will just have to wait and see how things play out

Vikings waived OT Willie Beavers.

Yikes. A fourth-round rookie, Beavers was the No. 121 overall pick of the draft. You have to really be unimpressive to get cut loose as a fourth-rounder. One of Beavers' main issues coming out of Western Michigan was strength. The Vikes will presumably try to bulk him up on the practice squad.

Sanches was a "hope he can play ibside" pick   at the time he was drafted. He doesn't have the size that the Panthers want on t he outside. They were hoping he could play in the slot, but it proved to much of a challenge for the freelance defensive back (he only played outside in college ). Our team doesn't have the luxury of keeping him on the 53 man roster, sorry there are better players worth keeping.

I'm really not surprised.

best suited to play guard/that's one of the position he played in the senior bowl

in not for certain but I believe the Vikings were also playing him at guard.

left tackle feet that's about it though

Chiefs waived QB Kevin Hogan.

A surprising fifth-round pick, Hogan probably lacks the tools to eventually push for a backup job. The Chiefs will try to develop him on the practice squad.

49ers waived OT Fahn Cooper.

A fifth-round draft pick out of Ole Miss, Cooper was a big disappointment as a member of Chip Kelly's first draft class. The 49ers will likely hope Cooper passes through waivers and is eligible for their practice squad.

Wait the Vikings released their 4th and 6th round picks? That never happens.

Sent from my iPhone using CarolinaHuddle

Beavers had some of the best footwork of any tackle in this years draft.ton of versatility since you can play him all over the line

the Panthers showed quite a bit of interest in him at the Senior Bowl

plays with a mean streak something I love to see in a oL.

i would cut Larsen for this kid in a heartbeat...low risk/high reward
