If that is the mindset then might as well start McClain or Bene on the outside...

he made too many mistakes to think he can roll into Denver in that pressure environment and not make mental errors.

that is a HUGE environment.  It isn't like a 1 pm Sunday game.  It would be his debut on a bigger stage than if was MNF

Worley needs the short leash to keep him focused.  Guy will have brain farts if he goes unchecked.

He can play the position just can't let him get comfortable.

But that was after we lost Bene. I guess what I'm saying is that it seems like playing the base 4-3 with Shaq on the field much more often would seem to take away from Bene's reps...unless we went with 1 Safety. So all in all, we haven't seen Shaq and Bene on the field together very often (if at all). And while we all think Bene should be on the outside the coaches don't seem to think this.

Yeah I'm not getting the logic or I'm missing something. I keep hearing Shaq is going to be on the field playing more this season and then we put Bene our 1 good experienced CB at the nickel position (which I understand he is good at) and not have him on the field as frequently. It's not like Bene wasn't good at the outside CB position when he's played there.

Things aren't adding up for me yet.

This is by far the most interesting question in terms of personnel for tomorrow night's game.

Trying to figure out who the inactives might be, it's hard to come up with 7 inactives unless one of Worley or McClain sits out.  The question is complicated too by our thinness at Safety given Marlowe's injury...  If we had to sub in Marcus Ball from the Practice Squad, you'd want the best / most experienced CBs on the field with him.

If one didn't have to think about inactives, it would be easy, and perhaps ideal to suggest a rotation between McClain and Worley, but I honestly don't know that we'll keep 5 CBs active for the game.

If I recall correctly, in his WFNZ radio segment yesterday, Bene mentioned that he, McClain and Worley had all been sharing snaps outside.  I think it was Bene who mentioned it.  I know I heard it somewhere.

I'm tempted to predict Worley could be inactive this week...

If that ends up being the case then they were really just trying to see who would fit better all along between JB and worley, knowing Bene could slide outside in place of one that didn't come along quite as quickly. If worley turns up inactive then it's assured to me that bene will be outside in base, and slide inside when needed. If all that comes to pass, ultimate troll job by RR and co Prbly sitting there with the huddle pulled up laughing the whole time. There's so many angles this could go It's gonna be a LONNNNNGGGGG 32 hours.....

Worley, Bene’ Benwikere and Robert McClain have been rotating with the first team opposite Bradberry this week in practice. Rivera said he probably won’t say who’s starting until they go out for warm-ups.

"I think the coaches have an idea of what they want to do, but we’ve all been rotating inside and out," said Benwikere, insisting he has no clue what that plan is.

I don't understand the lack of love for McClain and what he's done to convince people that a rookie that hasn't looked good in preseason should start over him.

Rewatched SB50 yesterday and McClain looked solid.  Is he Norman/Peterson/Revis? Nope, but he is a veteran CB with experience that should get a lot more PT.  I like the potential of Worley/Sanchez in the future, but right now, I'd prefer that we go with Bradberry-Bene-McClain and rotate Worley in.

Doubt it happens, but fingers crossed.  At the end of the day.... what the hell do I know over coaches that see them on the daily. Haha. Just my 2 pennies.

I say McClain....from his sofa to starting in the super bowl...he has done a great job for us

Bene is the key...need him to stay healthy and he needs to be on the field in whatever role coaches put him in....just needs to play a lot

Is Bene back at 100%? I'm not sure if they were limiting his snaps during preseason because he was still on the mend, or if they were trying to get the rookies all the touches they could. If they're not trying to ease him back into the game, he is a better option outside than either McClain or Worley IMO, so he should start opposite Bradberry.

To answer the question: Between McClain and Worley, let's start Worley. Might as well go balls to the wall.

That's a fact.  On a scale of suckage, where would you rank them?

Worley week 1 IMO has potential for one of the worst levels of it....based on what he showed this preseason and the stage/pressure of this one particular game.  McClain's level is just your run of the mill type.  The "golly, he sucks, sure wish we had better" type.  Not the break your TV because one guy literally is costing a team from running their gameplan

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
