It's just one game

Enough with the doom and gloom  Denver is a good team.  We're a good team.  Either of us could have won that game.  If not for that timeout before Gano's first kick we would have won.  Nothing to get bent out of shape about as far as the outlook for the season.  We're going to win a lot of games.  We will win the NFC South.  We will go to the playoffs as one of the top 2 seeds.

We have stuff we need to work on obviously but get a hold of yourselves and act like a man for christs sake.

I'm personally not upset that we lost; it's in the way we lost that I'm upset. This will probably be the toughest defense/refs we'll play all year and we put ourselves in a position to win despite that. Our defense needs to tighten up the run defense though. Those running lanes were pretty wide.

I'm not mad that we lost. I'm mad that refs continue to allow Cam to take headshots. This has been going on for far too long and players know they can get away with it. Something has too change or Cam's career will be cut short. Thats what I'm flaming fuging mad about. Give our QB the same treatment as all the other QBs in the league

This is the only problem I had with our play tonight. Too much given up in the running game

I think Denvers the best team in the league we're literally neck and neck with an elite team with an outrageous defense and a slightly upgraded offense. Also considering this is the first game of the year we should be sharper next week after that watch out.

I'm not worried that we gave up a lot of rushing yards this game, but I am greatly concerned about our pass defense.  If KK, Ealy, or CJ aren't getting to the QB, we will lose some of games this year.  I wish we would have kept Norman for one more year.  We did with Hardy when I said we shouldn't have tagged him, yet we let Norman walk?

Man, it feels like we are in rebuilding mode on defense.

We lost the same game twice in a row. Pretty much the same way. If you can't make adjustments with 6 months, it doesn't give me a lot of confidence in our ability to out fox the best teams in the league in the playoffs.

I thought we made some pretty good adjustments.  But guess what?  Denver might still be good.  You're not going to blow out every team.

The 1 glaring weakness is still there. The utter, shocking inability to protect Cam.

Honestly I don't know what the answer is.  I don't sit down and study game tape.  I still believe the penalty differential was the difference in this game.  Maybe we get those calls if Denver were playing in Carolina and we'd have won by 10+.

The answer is to block release a green dog blitz and pass it to the TE or RB who released as the hot read. Did it in the 1st half. Stopped doing it in the second half. The coaches went into clock running mode to start the second half. They believed the defense could win it for the Panthers with a 17-7 lead.

30+ points or it will be 50/50 shots at the end of the game, and left up to the clock management.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
