All I have to say is that I know everyone wasn't taking the Vikings for granted, but it seems like many people thought that we would cruise right past the Vikings.  When they acquired Sam Bradford, a few of us were saying that he was better than many were trying to put down here, and he has pretty much proven to be an invaluable pickup for them so far. He certainly proved his worth against our guys today. And, it seemed like people thought that there D-line was illegitimate or something. Well...I do believe our O-line wasn't great today, but they were good enough for us to win. Between Cam holding on to the ball too long, whether his choice or plays that took too long to develop, better decisions are the order for the future.

Now, don't get me wrong, the Panthers (and Cam) made a few errors today, but the Vikings beat us and proved why you can't take any team for granted. We got outplayed and out-coached.  Time to go back to the drawing board.  The season is still young, so hopefully we can get the issues addressed. We appear close, but, bottom line, we're 1-2.  

I'm fairly sure that the team doesn't take anyone for granted, and the Huddle shouldn't either. The Panthers have a lot of work to do, but I still believe we are the class of the division.

Call it hubris all you want.  We had the NFL MVP behind center.  We just went to the Super Bowl.  The fans had a right to be confident facing a QB in just his second game with his team that's missing half of it's offensive and defensive continuity.  The Vikings are good, sure.  We are better . . . on paper, anyway.  The coaching staff fumbled this game away.  And that's the most depressing part about this loss; I no longer feel a thread of confidence in our ability to win a football game.  At this point, it's dumb fuging luck.

Yep doesn't matter how good the players are if the coaching is very bad.. just look at the rams with their coach.. they are extremely talented but the coaching is just straight garbage.

Problem is also special team play...Gano has to be better and we have to tackle on punt returns and kick returns. Andy punted well but overall coverage was weak. I have to give props to the Vikings blocking...i think I saw Colin Jones blocked all the way down the sideline and he is a stud on special teams.

Maybe their D-line, which we always seem to have trouble with (we have trouble with the tough ones), but Bradford is no limp-armed over-the-hill Manning. Give him time, and he will carve you up.

We have to learn how to make the kind of half-time adjustments that the Vikings did today to get the ball out of Cam's hands quicker (and Cam has to buy in).

If you had told me before the game we'd turn the ball over three times, give up a return TD, a safety, commit stupid penalties and have 8 sacks on Cam, that's a loss regardless of opponent. While we as fans can sometimes be overconfident, we ultimately don't control what happens on the field.

      overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.

      Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
