So...the Falcons have the number 1 offense in the league.

They will score at least 31 on us Sunday.... good thing is I think we score 42

Meh, too much made of the Aints game.

Ryan actually did diddly poo last week.  He played safe and his RB were able to generate 300+ yards and 4 TDs.

Saints suck, Buc suck, and the Falcons ain't what I would call good

Panthers have the #7 offense in the league despite having played two top defenses.

Falcons have the #1 offense in the league because they have played two horrible defenses.

more specifically, Atlanta has played the 32nd ranked D, 31st ranked D and 19th ranked D

Carolina has played the 6th, 7th, and 20th

that of course is the standard definition of defense by yards

in terms of pts allowed, Atlanta has played the 32nd, 31st, and 22nd ranked D

Carolina has played the 3rd, 8th, 23rd

so in simple terms, the worst D Carolina played is on par w/ the best the Falcons have played.....and Carolina has shown they can play against real defenses for at least half a game and dictate.  Atlanta has shown nothing.

It could be argued that the Saints and Raiders have the bottom two defenses because they played the Falcons. This was an argument we used last year when people said we had a weak schedule.

However, the Raiders seem overrated and the Saints defense is atrocious. And Tampa Bay spanked them. I'm not buying the Falcons at all.

sorry, it couldn't be argued the Saints have one of the worst defenses because they played the Falcons.  They just have the worst D in the NFL.  They are going to give up 30 pts in any dome game.  Saints actually need to play outdoors in hopes of slowing down a team.

I'll give some wiggle room on the others

So an offense led by Matt Ryan is currently number 1, according to the failcon's boards and foxsports.

This poo stain of a QB is number 1 currently in the league in QBR, and leading the current NFL's "most dangerous offense."

So naturally, the falcons board is ecstatic about this

Now goodness me, the mighty Falcons have risen from the trenches and have the league's most complete and dangerous offense. I mean Julio Jones and Matt Ryan amirite? There's no offense better than this, and no defense could possibly game-plan for the most potent offense in the league. Heck, even Falcon fans are calling Carolina "pretenders" and "a walk in the park" for next weeks game, focusing on the ever-so frightening Seahawks and Wilson's superior scrambling ability, and Denver (Alright, I give them a pass on Denver. Heck, Matt Ryan might lose his head that game.) Their team is a juggernaut in the NFC South, and there's no way anyone could beat them.

...Right?

Now, let me present a few points to note that should grab your attention.

1.  They played against the Bucs, Oakland, and Saints

They have proven they can perform against trash defenses this year so far. I mean if you have Julio Jones and decent WRs and backs, you better hope your offense does decently against them. I mean heck, if Cam went against these defenses, we'd probably be talking about unanimous MVP right now. Now, let's get some stats here to back up my point.

-Alright, the Buccaneers are near the middle bottom of the pack, allowing 370 TYPG. I mean they have a decent defense. But...the Falcons lost this one. They were only able to hang up 24 points. But the offense had a good game, getting 300+ yards from Matt Ryan's arm. It's just Tampa got the better of them after all. The Falcon's defense isn't exactly stellar, so it's only expected Jameis Winston would eat up their defense who can't contain mobile QBs apparently. So, sure they didn't win, but their offense is a juggernaut against this middle of the pack defense, amirite?

-Oakland Raiders is DEAD LAST in the league on total yards per game. You heard that right, DEAD LAST. 32nd in the league, allowing an average 476.0 total yards per game. This Oakland preseason hyped up defense has allowed about 476 total yards per game. They just aren't the juggernaut they were projected to be, and the stats prove it. This proves that there should be some questions coming into how the Falcons are "number 1" in the league with their offense. They have proven nothing, but I'm betting there are still skeptics out there, so...

-The Saints is not too far behind the Raiders. In fact, they are SECOND TO DEAD LAST in total yards per game. 31st in the league, allowing an average of 448.3 yards per game. Now, for you poo-headed skeptics out there, let's put this in perspective. The Carolina's supposedly "weak" defense (as dubbed by many wolf crying huddlers) is 3rd in the league in the fewest TYPG, allowing 273.3 on average. This Saints defense has allowed nearly more than 1.5x that amount! This yet again proves how dubbing the Falcons as "#1" in the league is flawed. They've proven nothing. Well hey, at least the Saints aren't exactly dead last in the league. Yet.

So effectively, one could conclude the Falcons have proven nothing. Which leads to my next point...

2. They play Carolina, Seattle, then Denver in that Order

Welp. Seattle is 1st in fewest TYPG by opposing offenses, Carolina is 3rd, and Denver is 7th. Granted, Seattle hasn't really played against any offense worth calling decent, and Denver has faced Carolina hanging 20 on them, and other decent offenses hanging 20+ points on them. But these defenses are the real deal. The Falcons would have to prove they can overcome these obstacles to even consider them in contention for the best offense in the NFL. Seattle's just hard and strong, Panthers are stout and solid, with the best LB corps in the league by miles, and Denver...well, they're dirty and strong. Atlanta will have to prove they can get a decent offense rolling against these teams after the cupcake schedule they had for their 1st 3 games. Can they do it? Well, which leads me to my next point.

3. Matt Ryan's their QB

I'll leave this gif to explain:

matt_ryan.gif?cda6c1

So basically, the Falcons are overrated, the Panthers will win this Sunday.

Part of Gettlemans pass rush is injured already and out a couple weeks and it's a long season. We have the right to question the strength of a position group when the starters have 0 sacks so far. I've watched every Panthers game since day one, I watched them build the stadium, I'm a realist.

Not having guys up front getting to the QB makes Luke and TDs jobs tougher and those are tough guys and it's a long season but them having to worry about getting sacks here in Carolina is almost unheard of we've ALWAYS been about our front four. Oh, and DeLaire is on IR.

Take Atlanta seriously though, their RB needs our attention now and there is Hulio and they are at home.

Luckily it's a long season.
