Maybe it's time to sit down and write Jerry Richardson another letter

In 2013 after we lost the Bills game I was fed up and wrote Jerry Richardson an angry letter. @Kurb told me to post it on teh huddle, because Kurb posted on the huddle back then. I said NO KURB, this is for Jerry's eyes only. I'm going to appeal to the looming existential shades that come with advanced age and hope it doesn't turn out like the scene in Braveheart where King Edward is laying in bad hacking his lungs out and refuses to listen to his own daughter's pleas for William Wallace's life. So I signed it and mailed it.

It wasn't a particularly well written letter. I would probably craft it much differently now. But at the time, with the tenor of the season, it felt appropriate. I mailed it Monday morning, and six days later Jeremy captured a photograph of a man in a quiet trance, perhaps the most existentially ponderous photograph one's gaze may ever pass:

Jerry stood quietly in the end zone, gazing upon his team, probably with my letter tucked into his pocket, or maybe tucked inside his sock like old guys do with their money and other things near and dear to them. The Panthers, probably freshly inspired after he probably had Thomas Davis read the letter to them in the locker room, went out and blanked the New York Giants for four quarters, shutting them out and kicking off the first playoff season in half a decade and the beginning of the team's ascent to perennial glory.

Apparently I need to write him another one.

    • The last 8 weeks, Nix had 2,022 yards, 21 TDs, 6 INTs on 70% completions While Bryce's last 8 games he had 1,709 yards, 12 TDs (albeit adding 5 more rushing), 3 INTs on 61% completions. I'm not going to pretend I watched those Broncos games to know exactly how Nix actually looked, but in retrospect, his statistics were better.  Hell, in just his final 8 games, Nix has only 5 less TD passes than Bryce has in his 30 game (28 starts) career. And you said he had better WRs than Bryce did, but I'm not even sure that's even true either. Sutton and Thielen might be completely different types of WRs, but I'd say they are pretty equal on effectiveness if not even a slight edge to Thielen (63.6 YPG for Sutton to 61.5 for Thielen).  Then XL and Coker vs Marvin Mims and Devaughn Vale, again, at worst a push, if not lean in our favor there too. Why is it so hard for some Panthers fans to just objectively look at our team/Bryce and be honest with themselves. ? He was significantly improved the final two months of the season from his first season and a half.  But he was still a below average QB during that time, even if he had a few good throws and clutch moments.
    • The Canes physically dominated 2 of the top 16 teams in the league this calendar month. If you truly believe Florida is just that much more physical than us, then what does that say about the rest of the league? Why didn't they go 82-0 this year, if they are orders of magnitude better than every other team?
