Belichick isn't a great drafter.

but I hate the arguement that draft picks are good because they are on your roster is a sign a good drafting.  Sub par mistakes can stick around on a GMs roster

Gettleman hasn't been all bad. I think he's  an aggressive money manager, and an above average talent evaluator, notwithstanding questions about some of his picks in this joint, as well as Getty's own declarations that he is a talent guru.

Where I think the most questions lie about Getty is in regards to team building and drafting. He has all these concepts and theories, and appears a bit dogmatic and set in his ways about what it takes to build a champion and achieve sustained success which makes me question his flexibility, or just the ability to see that managing a team is very much a dynamic situation.

Windows may not exist per se, but sometimes you have to sieze the opportunity while it's still available because it can disappear with the quickness. 

I guess what I am saying is that I question whether Gettleman is creative enough to think outside the box in order to keep the chemistry right to foster sustained success. I mean, I cringe a little bit when I see that players who would have obviously helped the Panthers to keep rolling have signed somewhere else on the cheap or even fair market deals.  

Moreover, I question the way that he maneuvers the draft when he deals picks, and moves up to get players that he may be able to get at a later point anyway. 

I guess all of this is just par for the course anyway. No GM is perfect, but some are obviously better than others. The jury is still out on where Gettleman lands within that number. He has a lot of work to do within the coming months which will tell us a lot about how he should be rated.

Wow, BB traded a top pass rusher for one Guard that already is gone and DG traded for a DE that was fundamental in our front 7 last year, that lead us to the Superbolw??

The situation with Gettleman is somewhere in between. These days you have the posters that think he is pure ass, and the posters that just put their fingers in their ears if you dare to question him. Basically it's the same huddle it's always been.

We were that One year, In the First round.  That year, the pats had 2 seconds.  one of them only 8 slots behind us.

On top of this, 99% of the gettleman bashers are the ones defending Hurney and talking about "He drafted Cam or Luke".   Luke was a top 10 pick which would fit in the "higher slot".  Cam was #1 overall so no need to even say it there.  And in that same draft we got Cam.  Von Miller, Patrick Peterson, AJ Green, Julio Jones, JJ Watt, Tyron Smith, Aldon Smith, Marcell Dareus, all went in the top 11.  A group of 4-5 year olds could be drafting and theyd get a solid probowler or future hall of famer in that class.
