McDermott's squad has let us down just as much if not more than Shula's this year.....and McD has the talent edge vs Shula.

Just sayin.....

Shula ain't going to nowhere.  Now the injuries are piling up.  Dave is going to allow the focus be on injuries.

Sadly, I think you are right.  Shula is going to get the "Get Out Of Jail Free Card"  Though he is probably the worst OC in the league.   Worst than that.  Rivera doesn't have the fortitude to admit Shula is the problem and will remain loyal to him until he gets wacked himself.

I am not on the it's the O-Line fault (prior to injuries) I think teams know what plays Shula is going to run from certain formations.  The Read Option does nothing but put us in 2nd and 3rd and long.

And my first ding on Gettlleman.  As the great Bill Parcells used to say It is better to get rid of older talent one year too early than one year too late.  Ah la CJ and Tolbert.   Tolbert looked like a car with a flat tire on that swing pass.   Wide the F-open and could build up speed to get the first down even if he was running down hill.    Gettleman is too loyal to Vets too.

I'm curious on how many posters would admit they were terrible wrong if we hire another oc and they same poo happens because our personnel sucks

well if they fired Shula the FO would immediately go out and improve the OL.....they would take that scenario out of the equation.  That is how legit scapegoating works.   Carolina is fully aware of all their issues.  They aren't under the illusion firing a very average offensive mind really fixes much.

This is what I'm worried about, the fake illusion that DG would create by doing so, by putting us in a hole and taking us out it makes it seems like he's a damn good gm but in reality he's the main reason we're in the position we are in now.

Actually, no change in OC would make a damn bit of difference as long as Rivera remains HC.

Because what Shula does is exactly what Rivera wants.

    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
    • It is goofy how some people hate Bryce so much that they're flat out lying to try and remain entitled to their pessimism. It's insanity. Most fans are realists and eagerly awaiting the season to see if we get pre- or post-benching Bryce to start the season and how much he is able to do with some young and developing weapons. Many of us understand that these young guys are going to have growing pains on the job as well as the new defense, but the fans with all of the excuses for why Bryce can't be successful are pounding the no excuses drum. Personally, I'd prefer the Keep Pounding drum.
