So we're blaming our inability to win close games on our injuries... not sure if I've ever heard that one before.

I'm not absolving the staff about their mistakes. I just find it difficult to see how any coaching staff in this league could manage with so many injuries in one unit and key starters in other areas and find a way to not get blown out every week.

The comparison is 2009 when Gross broke his leg. Travelle Wharton was the backup that year, he actually had experience at the position and was able to step in for Gross. Therefore, the whole line was not fuged because of one injury

Let's see, ONE player was injured.

You better hope your line is able to make due if only one is injured.

Try having 2 players injured pretty much every game. Don't forget about Stewart, who was out most of pre bye week games and his blocking

Oh, and then try nearly everyone except Norwell being hurt.

Exactly how does that compare to our situation right now?

Let's see, how many games in a row have they lost recently?

Terrible example, and we lost due to poor game management more than anything else.

They are still in the hunt for their division, have won 2 more games than us, have lost their tackles since week 3. I don't see how that's a terrible example when they literally have out performed us thus far this season. It's okay if you don't like the example

Remmers shouldn't be starting on the right side. Now he is on the left and that's even worse. This line was screwed the second oher went down.

The underlying assumption here is that we even had a good line before the injuries. I'm not sure that is the case considering we have ignored both tackle spots pretty much since Gross left. Gettleman would rather draft 100 DTs than try to protect his franchise QB with real OL talent

Most of Ron's excuses were just that, excuses...except the O line.

We're hurting there. And it's not anyones fault. There's enough legitmate things to blame on Rivera and Gettlemen, no need to try and blame them for this one too. It's a reach.

Not team would hold up with their 3rd string center, backup LT, and 3rd string/backup RT. Health matters.

Now if at the end of the year Ron and Dave try and blame this year's failure on injuries, I'll be right there to call BS.

But if we're talking just yesterday, it's a legit explanation.

They got a top 3 defense to go along with that. Their defense has been their offense.

We have had 5-6 games decided by a field goal or less, yet their losses have been by large margins. They've had more losses by 3 or more points than we've had. They've only had one loss in the range of a FG, and they have more games lossed by larger margins than us.

In fact, we've only had 2 games lost by more than a fg.

So exactly how have they been better?

It really shouldn't be.

If we are talking about Rivera, his job is probably saved by 3 consecutive division champs, a Superbowl appearance, and probably the longest period of sustained success in franchise history.

Fwiw, if we falter next year, then I don't think injuries will really matter much.
