Would this scenario change your mindset going into the game?

Looking at wildcard, which is extremely unlikely but crazier things have happened, there are 8 teams ahead of us: Giants, Redskins, Eagles, Cardinals, Vikings, Packers, Buccaneers, Aints. In the division of course the Falcons, Aints and Bucs are all ahead of us. Pretend this scenario happens before the Sunday night game:

Vikings lost to Cowboys.

Lions beat Saints.

Texans beat Packers.

Chiefs beat Falcons.

Bengals beat Eagles.

Chargers beat Buccaneers.

Steelers beat Giants.

Cardinals beat Redskins.

Every single one of these outcomes would be good for us and honestly none of the individual outcomes turning out this way is unlikely. We'd gain on every single other wildcard opponent with a win tonight except for the Cardinals, but they're only half a game ahead of us and have a tough schedule including likely losses at Seattle, at Dolphins and possibly at Rams. And of course we'd gain on every divisional opponent including the Falcons which although a lot would still have to go our way the rest of the season would help those odds.

My mindset going into Seattle as of now is that we're most likely going to lose with the injuries and poor play of our team and I won't be upset at all with a close loss at this point. I want to win them all still and go for 9-7 but it's looking pretty unlikely for tomorrow night and I recognize and that forms my current mindset. I bet others have a similar mindset. But if this scenario happened before the game, I'd be going into the game all in for a win, similar to our 2014 playoff game in Seattle. Not that any of our mindsets really matter but I'm curious whether this would change others mindsets as well.

In all likelihood, this scenario doesn't play out, we don't win and none of this matters. But, to me at least, it's still interesting to look at.

My mindset is keep fighting till the end.

Nothing changes that.

As is mine but would you be more upset with a loss tomorrow night if that scenario happens than if all those teams won?

We aren't going to the playoffs. Make peace with it now

The draft isn't until the end of April.  Nothing wrong with waiting to see what happens tomorrow night before proceeding down that LONG road.

Just setting yourself up for disappointment. Watch the games, root for your team, but do so with the knowledge that the only thing we're playing for is pride.

    • fuging Christ dude this isnt hard.  Like at all.  I get you simping for this poo team is your thing but sometimes you have to look at reality.   Even removing his bum knee from the equation, none of this made sense.  He is 31.  He has been paid handsomely for his service here.  He was currently under contract for this season.  Why in the holy fug did anything have to be done 2 weeks before the season started.   The people for this move, in this thread are saying A) He deserved it (this is the nfl it doesnt work like that  B) It frees up cap space (then why in the fug didnt we do this in Feb or C) You logic (We are getting a deal at 53 million guaranteed for the next 3 years.   You realize with this deal we cannot cut or trade his ass for 3 years.  You understand this right?   So in my opinion we should have let this ride into the offseason and go from there, what he is going to threaten to walk, big fuging deal he would be 32 on a chronically bad knee, what other moronic franchise is going to give him 40 million up front?  It wasnt going to happen.   And you are acting like its impossible to replace a 32 year old RT with a bum knee.  Just go and draft someone, move Icky to RT.  There are tons of options instead of extending this dude 2 weeks before the fuging season.  The truth is Morgan and the shitheads in the FO fell for this dudes crying act and got all sentimental and shelled out another ext.  We are a poverty ass franchise that doesnt act professionally
    • Amazing what the prospect of being traded to Carolina will do for contract negotiations.
    • 5 Im glad football is back but after the embarrassment that was the browns pre season game where our starting D made Sanders look like a serviceable NFL QB, I lost hope again for a successful Panthers campaign this year.  I do hope I’m wrong!
