Panthers 1-5 vs division opponents in 2016

One of the most troubling stats of the season. 1-5 against division opponents is unacceptable. The Panthers were 5-5 against non-divisional opponents.

Would you say this has more to do with the Falcons, Bucs, and Saints getting better? Or the Panthers getting worse? Or both?

They wanted it more.  They hate our franchise.  They HATE Cam.  They were tired of watching us win for three straight years.  It all matters as football is an emotional game.

The earth will resume in it's normal Panther on top axis for a LONG time in 2017, for many reasons.

Just now, JPino said:

We should've been 3-3 at the worst. There is no reason why we shouldn't have swept Tampa. If we had all of our starters in both games, the result would've been much different

Perfect that we're picking 8 and they're picking 19 and will have a tougher schedule next year to boot.  Fools.  They can have those two meaningless wins.

If you're not getting better, you're getting worse. We did absolutely nothing to get better in the short term this past season.

Yep. And as much as people want to lay most of that on Ron Rivera, our GM should be shouldering the bulk of the responsibility for this season.

Other teams can improve too, we took it for granted.

Not to mention the kicker that we made one of the best paid in the league in the offseason singlehandedly cost us 3-4 wins this year.

My takeaway:

@ Atlanta - Having to start Sanchez out of necessity since our secondary was banged up meant we lost that game before it even started.

Tampa - DA the Buc killer instead became a turnover machine. Gave it away.

@  Saints - Always hard to win in the Superdome. We won last year only because we had the ball last. Not this time.

Saints - The one win that didn't feel like one because of what happened with Luke

Falcons - We tried holding on but the talent gap proved too large.

@ Bucs - Cam tried to outsuck DA. A successful two point conversion meant a win that not many here actually wanted.

    • Another thread where the Huddle melts down over a Bryce comment.  "Conversations" and "Bryce Young has been signed to a new long-term contract" are still far away from being the gospel.  For a fanbase that has watched two top-3 drafted QBs come here, and us move on, only to see them elevate their play elsewhere, I find it comical. Bryce is flawed but this org is damned if you do and damned if you don't with BY9.  Why would our GM and HC say anything other than supportive about their QB1. Yes, he's extended, but I truly do not think if he goes out and has a repeat of the previous seasons, that he is here beyond 2027. They're giving him every opportunity and surrounding him with a ridiculous amount of assets on both sides of the ball. If he continues to pitch 110 yd/ game and cough up the ball while everyone else is busting their ass, no way Dan keeps him beyond the extension.
    • Ooof, I was not a Proctor fan. I agree w/ a lot of smarter folks than me that he's more of a guard and think his weight fluctuation is going to be something to navigate. I liked Lomu a lot, but figured there would be more talented guys there at 19. I also wasn't big on bringing in a TE via the draft. If it's not a vet (Njoku) or a trade for Mayer or Kmet, I'd just as soon see what the youngsters have. No need cluttering the room with more of the same.
    • Sam Darnold & Bryce Young are two very different Qbs ..just saying the last 25 years approximately 2/3 of ALL  first round Qb's  in the NFL were or are bust.so for everyone who makes it like a Sam Darnold you have two that don't make it or are a bust
